* Based on a shounen basketball manga written by Hinata Takeshi.

Kurumatani Sora made a promise to his mother, "I will dominate my first high school tournament". But as he joins the basketball club after entering Kuzuryuu High School, he finds out that it's become a stomping ground for delinquents. A place where everything but basketball is done, but with Sora's genuine zeal for basketball, things begin to stir.

A solid Sports Anime. Very much by the books but that is not always a bad thing. I think aside from the animation, which arent to impressive, the story is pretty good and I rarely felt the character act out of character.

I hope for a second season. All in all a solid watch.

I always enjoy sport anime, and Slam Dunk is still on top of my basketball anime list. This one, I would say the story is more realistic but it can't really carry the hype smoothly, there are just too many separation on the story line which made it feel a bit dragging. Also none of the character design is eyes catching.

However, I would still recommended it. The style is closer to slice of life type of anime, unlike others that always has a eye catching main character that always do things poorly at the start then become awesome at the end. Unfortunately this season ends with just the beginning of the basketball club, that they are really getting together and waiting to do something good. Really hope there will be a new season as we have not had a good basketball anime for years.

One of the really good sport animes out there! It had plenty of humour, seriousness, drama and action. Even a few but rather "normal" ecchi moments. I mean it's a shounen series about teens who are growing up.

That's what I liked best. That is was a nice and quite realistic well-paced slice-of-life sport series. There is nothing over-the-top. And that was very enjoyable for once.

The animation and character design is really nice. The guys look great but the girls do to. The characters are quite diverse and all are likeable. Even if it might take a bit of time here and there since it's not only about "good kids".

I really hope for another season since these 50 eps "only" cover the first 18 volumes (150 chapters) of currently 51 volumes.

I'll start off by saying the cons. It's deceivingly "realistic" sport anime, full of drama, slow and dragging, with no real impact in their crazy scenes. You can see MC teams do tons of clutch plays but none of it matters, because off-screen performance gives you false-sense of which one is ahead. Also, the gimmick dies too early.

But it's still sport anime after all, and I love them. It can get exciting, but don't expect the pacing you get from modern ones. There're great moments here and there with some nice SoL. The characters are great too, albeit not used to their full potential.

Visual-wise, it can get ugly most of the time, but some are nice. Animation is choppy too for a sport series. Comparing to big budget series like DnA, it's clear how BAD the quality is.
