     Reverend Hon. Charles Leslie Courtenay was born on 31 March 1816.¹ He was the son of William Courtenay, 10th Earl of Devon and Henrietta Leslie Pepys.¹ He married Lady Caroline Margaret Somers-Cocks, daughter of John Sommers Somers-Cocks, 2nd Earl Sommers and Lady Caroline Harriet Yorke, on 20 June 1849.¹ He died on 18 November 1888 at age 72.¹
     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was the Vicar at Bovey Tracey, Devon, England^G.¹ He held the office of Canon of Windsor.¹ He held the office of Chaplain-in-Ordinary to HM Queen Victoria.¹

     William Reginald Courtenay was born on 28 October 1832.¹ He was the son of William Reginald Courtenay, 11th Earl of Devon and Lady Elizabeth Fortescue.¹ He died on 21 November 1853 at age 21.¹
     He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal South Devon Yeomanry Cavalry.¹

     Hugh Courtenay was born on 10 November 1833.¹ He was the son of William Reginald Courtenay, 11th Earl of Devon and Lady Elizabeth Fortescue.¹ He died on 13 March 1835 at age 1.¹

     Patrick Ogilvy, 2nd Earl of Findlater was the son of Sir Patrick Ogilvy of Inchmartine and Anne Campbell.¹ He married Lady Elizabeth Ogilvy, daughter of James Ogilvy, 1st Earl of Findlater and Lady Elizabeth Leslie.² He died in May 1659.²
     He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Ogilvy of Deskford [S., 1615] in 1652.² He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Findlater [S., 1638] in 1652.²

     Henry Reginald Courtenay was born on 8 June 1714.¹ He was the son of Sir William Courtenay, 2nd Bt. and Lady Anne Bertie.¹ He married Lady Catherine Bathurst, daughter of Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst and Catherine Apsley, on 14 April 1737.¹ He died on 30 April 1763 at age 48.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)¹

     Lady Catherine Bathurst was the daughter of Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst and Catherine Apsley.¹ She married Henry Reginald Courtenay, son of Sir William Courtenay, 2nd Bt. and Lady Anne Bertie, on 14 April 1737.¹ She died in 1783.¹
     Her married name became Courtenay.

     Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst was born on 16 November 1684 at St. James Square, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Sir Benjamin Bathurst and Frances Apsley.¹ He married Catherine Apsley, daughter of Sir Peter Apsley and Catherine Fortrey, on 6 July 1704.³ He died on 16 September 1775 at age 90 at Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.³ He was buried at Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.³ His will was proven (by probate) on 30 October 1775.³
     He matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 13 May 1700.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Cirencester between 1705 and 1712.¹ He was created 1st Baron Bathurst of Battlesden, co. Bedford [Great Britain] on 1 January 1711/12.¹ He held the office of Captain of the Gentlemen Pensioners between 1742 and 1744.³ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 13 July 1742.³ He held the office of Treasurer to the Prince of Wales between 1757 and 1760.³ His last will was dated 28 April 1767. He was created 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst, Sussex [Great Britain] on 27 August 1772.³ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁴
     
     Collins records that "till within a month of his death he constantly rode out two hours every morning, and drank his bottle of wine after dinner, and according to a well-known story, used, when advanced in life, to comment thus on the early retiremen tof his son (and successor in title) after dinner, 'Now we will enjoy ourselves since the old gentleman has gone to bed.³' "

     Reverend William Courtenay was born in 1738.¹ He was the son of Henry Reginald Courtenay and Lady Catherine Bathurst.¹ He married Anne Downes, daughter of John Downes, on 31 December 1764.¹ He died on 27 November 1783, without issue.¹

     Margaret Edgcombe was the daughter of Sir Richard Edgcombe and Joan Tremayne.^1,2 She married Sir William Courtenay, son of Sir William Courtenay and Cecily Cheney.¹

     Thomas Haggerston married Agnes de Umfreville, daughter of Sir Thomas de Umfreville and Agnes (?), before 1421.¹
