     Captain Hon. Harold Alfred Vyvyan St. George Harmsworth was born on 2 August 1894.1 He was the son of Harold Sidney Harmsworth, 1st Viscount Rothermere and Mary Lilian Share.1 He died on 12 February 1918 at age 23, from wounds received in action.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Irish Guards (Special Reserves.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.1

     Lt. Hon. Vere Sidney Tudor Harmsworth was born on 25 September 1895.1 He was the son of Harold Sidney Harmsworth, 1st Viscount Rothermere and Mary Lilian Share.1 He died on 13 November 1916 at age 21, killed in action.1
     He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Drake Battalion, Royal Navy Division.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.1

     Alfred Harmsworth was born on 3 July 1837 at St. John's Wood, London, EnglandG.1,2 He was the son of Charles Harmsworth and Hannah Carter.3 He married Geraldine Mary Maffett, daughter of William Maffett and Margaret Finlayson, on 21 September 1864.4,2 He died on 16 July 1889 at age 52.1 He was buried at St. Marylebone Cemetery, East Finchley, London, EnglandG.2
     He was admitted to Middle Temple entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.4

     Geraldine Mary Maffett was born on 24 December 1838 at South Frederick Street, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.2 She was the daughter of William Maffett and Margaret Finlayson.3,2 She married Alfred Harmsworth, son of Charles Harmsworth and Hannah Carter, on 21 September 1864.3,2 She died on 29 August 1925 at age 86.1
     Her married name became Harmsworth.

     Alfred Charles William Harmsworth, 1st and last Viscount Northcliffe was born on 15 July 1865 at Sunnybank, Chapelizod, County Dublin, IrelandG.1,3 He was the son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett.4 He married Mary Elizabeth Milner, daughter of Robert Milner, on 11 April 1888.1 He died on 14 August 1922 at age 57 at Carlton Gardens, Westminster, London, EnglandG, without issue.1,3 He was buried at St. Marylebone Cemetery, East Finchley, London, EnglandG.3
     He was educated at Stamford Grammar School, Stamford, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.1 In 1888 he founded Answers.5 In 1894 he acquired The Evening News.1 In 1896 he founded The Daily Mail.1 He was created 1st Baronet Harmsworth [U.K.] on 23 August 1904.1 He was created 1st Baron Northcliffe, of the Isle of Thanet, co. Kent [U.K.] on 27 December 1905.1 He was principal proprietor of The Times between 1908 and 1922.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Volunteer Battalion, East Kent Regiment.4 He was Chairman of the British Mission to the U.S.A. between May 1917 and November 1917.1 He was created 1st Viscount Northcliffe, of St. Peter, co. Kent [U.K.] on 14 January 1918.1 He was Director of Propoaganda in Enemy Countries between February 1918 and November 1918.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by University of Rochester, Rochester, Monroe County, New York, U.S.A.G.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the Cinque Ports.5 On his death, his titles became extinct.1

Mary Elizabeth Milner1

     Mary Elizabeth Milner was the daughter of Robert Milner.1 She married, firstly, Alfred Charles William Harmsworth, 1st and last Viscount Northcliffe, son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett, on 11 April 1888.1 She married, secondly, Sir Robert Arundell Hudson on 4 April 1923.1 She died on 29 July 1963.2
     From 11 April 1888, her married name became Harmsworth. After her marriage, Mary Elizabeth Milner was styled as Baroness Northcliffe on 27 December 1905. She was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1918.3 After her marriage, Mary Elizabeth Milner was styled as Viscountess Northcliffe on 14 January 1918. She was registered as a Associate, Royal Red Cross (A.R.R.C.) in 1919.3 She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.)3 From 4 April 1923, her married name became Hudson.
