General Sir Matthew Whitworth-Aylmer, 5th Lord Aylmer was born on 24 May 1775.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Aylmer, 4th Lord Aylmer and Catharine Whitworth.1 He married Louisa Anne Call, daughter of Sir John Call, 1st Bt. and Philadelphia Battie, on 4 August 1801.2 He died on 23 February 1850 at age 74 at 15 Eaton Square, London, EnglandG, suddenly from an aneurism of the heart, without issue.1 He was buried on 2 March 1850 at Norwood Cemetery, Norwood, Surrey, EnglandG.2
He was given the name of Matthew Aylmer at birth.3 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Aylmer, Baron of Balrath, co. Meath [I., 1718] on 22 October 1785.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Aylmer, of Balrath, co. Gerald William Addington, 5th Viscount Sidmouth was born on 19 August 1882. He was the son of Gerald Anthony Pellew Bagnall Addington, 4th Viscount Sidmouth and Ethel Mary Tonge.1 He married Mary Murdoch Johnstone, daughter of Sir Donald Campbell Johnstone, on 2 October 1915.1 He died on 4 April 1953 at age 70, without issue.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 6th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment (TA.)1 He fought in the First World War, in India, Mesopotamia, Aden and Salonika.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Sidmouth, of Sidmouth, co. Raymond Anthony Addington, 6th Viscount Sidmouth was born on 24 January 1887.
