Sir James Hamlyn-Williams, 2nd Bt. was born in 1765.2 He was the son of Sir James Hamlyn, 1st Bt. and Arabella Williams.2 He married Diana Anne Whitaker, daughter of Abraham Whittaker and Penelope Tempest, on 22 February 1790 at St. Mary's Church, Marylebone, London, EnglandG.2 He died in December 1829.2
He was given the name of James Hamlyn at birth.2 On 14 March 1798 his name was legally changed to James Hamlyn-Williams by a grant from the Garter King of Arms.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carmarthenshire between 1802 and 1806.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Carmarthenshire in 1811.2 He gained the title of 2nd Baronet Hamlyn, of Clovelly Court on 28 May 1811.
