     Roderick Denis Greer was born on 19 May 1896.¹ He was the son of Reverend Fergus William Greer and Matilda Martha Morriss.² He married Eileen Mary Hopking, daughter of Richard Smith Hopking, on 7 January 1920.¹ He died on 10 October 1987 at age 91 at Horsham, Sussex, England.³
     He was educated at St. Columba's College, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.¹ He gained the rank of First World War in the where he was wounded, with Royal Irish Fusiliers.¹ He gained the rank of Major in 1918 in the 7th Gurkha Rifles, Indian Army.¹ He was trans 7th Gurkha Rifles Indian Army in 1918.¹ He fought in the Afghan Campaign in 1919.¹ He retired from the military in 1922.¹ He fought in the Second World War, on General Staff War Office.¹ He was Secretary of RIAC between 1947 and 1972.¹ He lived in 1976 at Cranleigh, Newtownsmith, Sandycove, County Dublin, Ireland.¹
