[New Zealand] between 1875 and 1881.2 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [New Zealand] between 1891 and 1917.2 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1910.4 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1914.1
