John Wauchope, Lord Edmonstone1

     John Wauchope, Lord Edmonstone was baptised in 1633.1 He was the son of Sir John Wauchope of Niddrie and Anne Hamilton of Redhouse.2 He married Anna Rait, daughter of James Rait of Edmonstone and Anna Hay.1 He died in 1709.1
     In 1633 King Charles I was present at his baptism, who took from his neck and put round that of the child a gold and enamel chain, which remained in the family till Oct 1931 when they presented it to Edinburgh Corporation, who placed it in the City Museum, Canonga.1 He lived on 9 June 1671 he had confirmatory charter of Emondstone.1 He held the office of Lord of Session in 1672.1 He was styled as Lord Edmonstone [Scottish Law Lord] between 1672 and 1688.1

     James Wauchope of Edmonstone is the son of Patrick Don and Anne Wauchope.2 He married Christian Inglis, daughter of Sir John Inglis of Cramond, 2nd Bt. and Anne Cockburn, in 1733.1
     He was given the name of James Don at birth.

     Sir John Inglis of Cramond, 2nd Bt. was baptised on 23 September 1683 at Cramond, Midlothian, Scotland.3 He was the son of Sir James Inglis of Cramond, 1st Bt. and Anne Houstoun.4 He married Anne Cockburn, daughter of Adam Cockburn, Lord Ormiston and Lady Susanna Hamilton. He died on 3 March 1771 at age 87.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Inglis, of Cramond [N.S., 1687] on 6 December 1688.
