Major Owen Charles Guinness was born on 14 September 1894.2 He was the son of Colonel Charles Davis Guinness and Hon. Lucy Matilda Anne Massy.3 He married Katherine Doris Smith-Ryland, daughter of William Charles Henry Alston Smith-Ryland, on 23 June 1927.1 He died on 11 December 1970 at age 76.1
He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was severely wounded.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was an instructor between 1928 and 1932 at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He retired from the military in 1935, with the rank of Major, late of the Worcestershire Regiment.1 He was re-employed in World War II in War Office Casualty Branch.2 He lived at Tibradden House, County Dublin, IrelandG.1

William Charles Henry Alston Smith-Ryland was born circa 1859.2 He was the son of Henry Smith and Maria Louisa Phipson.2 He married Edith Richards, daughter of William Francis Richards, on 13 October 1887 at Solihull, Warwickshire, England.2 He died on 1 June 1914 at 36 Wilton Place, London, England.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 8 August 1914 at Warwickshire, England.2
