     Otto I Herzog von Bayern was born between 1117 and 1120.2 He was the son of Otto V von Scheyern and Heilika von Pettendorf-Lengenfeld.2 He married Agnes Gräfin von Loon, daughter of Ludwig II Graf von Loon and Agnes von Metz, circa 1169 at Kelheim, Germany.2 He died on 11 July 1183 at Pfullendorf.2
     He was Graf, Pfalzgraf von Bayern, Herzog von Bayern.2 He was also known as Otto VIII von Scheyern.2 Beiname: Der Rotkopf. Seit 1156 war er als Otto VI. Pfalzgraf von Bayern 'geboren als 'von Scheyern' auch erwähnt als 'von Wittelsbach'. Von 1180 bis zu seinem Tod war er Herzog von Bayern und wurde in dieser Zeit als Otto I. erwähnt. Er war ein: von Kelheim, von Scheyern, von Wittelsbach und von Bayern. Mit seinem Aufstieg zum Herzog begann die Herrschaft der Wittelsbacher über Bayern, die erst im Jahre 1918 endete.

Er ist der Graf Otto VIII. von Scheyern (um 1117–1183) = Graf Otto V. von Wittelsbach = Pfalzgraf Otto VI. von Bayern = Herzog Otto I. von Bayern/Wittelsbach (ab 1180.)2 He gained the title of Graf von Wittelsbach.1 He was created Herzog von Bayern in 1180.1
