     Robert Adam Ross MacLennan, Baron MacLennan of Rogart was born on 26 June 1936.1 He was the son of Sir Hector MacLennan and Isabel Margaret Adam.1 He married, secondly, Helen Cutter, daughter of Ammi Cutter, in 1968.1 He died on 18 January 2020 at age 83.3
     He was educated at Glasgow Academy, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was educated at Columbia University, Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.A.1 He was admitted to Gray's Inn in 1962 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Labour) for Caithness and Sutherland between 1966 and 1981.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Prices and Consumer Protection between 1974 and 1979.1 He was Leader of the Social Democrat Party between 1987 and 1988.1 He wrote the book The Lie, published 1992.1 He was president of the Liberal Democrats between 1994 and 1998.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1997.1 He wrote the book Friend of the People, published 1999.1 He was created Baron MacLennan of Rogart, of Rogart in Sutherland [U.K. Life Peer] on 19 July 2001.1

     From before 1968, her married name became Noyes.1 From 1968, her married name became MacLennan.1 After her marriage, Helen Cutter was styled as Baroness MacLennan of Rogart on 19 July 2001.
