     Algernon George Percy, 6th Duke of Northumberland was born on 2 May 1810.1 He was the son of George Percy, 5th Duke of Northumberland and Louisa Harcourt Stuart-Wortley.1 He married Louisa Drummond, daughter of Henry Drummond and Lady Henrietta Hay-Drummond, on 26 May 1845.2 He died on 2 January 1899 at age 88.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Beeralston between 1831 and 1832.1 He retired from the military in 1837, with the rank of Captain, late of the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for North Northumberland between 1852 and 1865.1 He held the office of a Lord of the Admiralty between 1858 and 1859.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1859.1 He was Vice-President of the Board of Trade between March 1859 and June 1859.1 He succeeded as the 6th Earl Percy [G.B., 1766] on 21 August 1867.1 He succeeded as the 6th Duke of Northumberland [G.B., 1766] on 21 August 1867.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Beverley, co. York [G.B., 1790] on 21 August 1867.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Smithson, of Stanwick, co. Yorks [E., 1660] on 21 August 1867.1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Lovaine, Baron of Alnwick, co. Northumberland [G.B., 1784] on 21 August 1867.1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1870 with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland between 1877 and 1899.1 He held the office of Lord Privy Seal between 1878 and 1880.1 He was president of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Surrey.1 He graduated from Durham University, Durham, County Durham, England, in 1882 with a Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) in 1883.1 He was president of the Royal Achaeolgical Institute between 1883 and 1892.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1885.1

     Louisa Drummond was the daughter of Henry Drummond and Lady Henrietta Hay-Drummond.1 She married Algernon George Percy, 6th Duke of Northumberland, son of George Percy, 5th Duke of Northumberland and Louisa Harcourt Stuart-Wortley, on 26 May 1845.1 She died on 18 December 1890.1
     From 26 May 1845, her married name became Percy. After her marriage, Louisa Drummond was styled as Duchess of Northumberland on 21 August 1867.

     Henry Percy, 2nd Earl of Northumberland was born on 25 July 1421 at Leconfield, Yorkshire, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Henry Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland and Lady Eleanor de Neville.1 He married Eleanor de Poynings, Baroness de Poynings, daughter of Sir Richard de Poynings and Joan Seamer, before 25 June 1435.3 He died on 29 March 1461 at age 39 at Towton, Yorkshire, EnglandG, killed in action.1
     He was appointed Knight on 19 May 1426.1 He held the office of Governor of Berwick and Warden of the Eastern March in 1440.1 He was commissioner to negotiate with the Scots in 1451.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Northumberland [E., 1416] on 22 May 1455.1 He held the office of Justiciar of the forest beyond Trent in 1459.1 He fought in the Battle of Wakefield on 30 December 1460.1 He fought in the Battle of Towton on 29 March 1461.4 On 4 November 1461 he was posthumously forfeited, with his honours forfeited.1

     Eleanor de Poynings, Baroness de Poynings was born circa 1422.2 She was the daughter of Sir Richard de Poynings and Joan Seamer.3 She married Henry Percy, 2nd Earl of Northumberland, son of Henry Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland and Lady Eleanor de Neville, before 25 June 1435.1 She died in February 1483/84.3
     She gained the title of Baroness de Poynings. From before 25 June 1435, her married name became Percy. After her marriage, Eleanor de Poynings, Baroness de Poynings was styled as Countess of Northumberland on 22 May 1455.

     After her marriage, Lady Maud Herbert was styled as Countess of Northumberland circa 1476. From circa 1476, her married name became Percy.
