Did you know that today- Tuesday, October 15 is International Day of Rural Women and this years theme is Empowering Rural Women for a Sustainable Future. Rural women are the epitome of strong black women especially in 2024 where empowerment is daily news. These ladies have hope like noone else and the great potential to grow and contribute largely to the economy. Working in a rural setting with Emerald Climate Hub has to be one of my best experiences this year. Biogas is the way to go and who better to spearhead it than rural women? Today is also Global Handwashing Day theme is Why are clean hands still important? After surviving COVID 19 did we continue to wash hands regularly or have we forgotten? Clean hands can prevent the pandemic we dont know of yet practice safe habits always and stay safe. It is a crucial platform for shaping the future for our planet and ensure that nature can continue to provide the essential services we rely on. Emerald climate hub team attended the 2nd Climate Change and development Conference which took place on the 2nd-3rd of October. Building Resilience, Securing the Future. The Event gathered different stakeholders from government of Zimbabwe, development partners, academia, and private sector to foster a collective dialogue on innovative solutions to climate challenges. We were honored to exhibit at the event showcasing the Emerald Biogas Technology initiative as well as engaging with key stakeholders, and students from various schools. Empowering Women, with clean energy! We are thrilled to have embarked on a transformative journey with 35 women in Zimbabwe introducing biogas technology, a clean, efficient and sustainable solution to fuel their homes For three incredible days, we immersed ourselves in a world of possibilities with these inspiring women. Our biogas introduction workshop was a transformative experience, filled with knowledge on rural circular economics and Entrepreneurship , Darlington Mafa and Matilda Kudzanai were they led a discussion on introductory biogas based cookstoves and the immense potential they have to help zero in on deforestation, generate additional income, advance healthy living. Witnessing the spark of understanding in their eyes as they grasped the potential of biogas with a live demonstration on the use of the biogas Technology led by Kuziva Chatukuta to revolutionize their daily lives was truly heartwarming. From reducing time spent on fuel collection to improving air quality and boosting their overall well-being,the impact of this clean technology is immeasurable. We're excited to see these amazing women become champions of sustainable living. Our aim as Emerald Climate Hub is to ensure that we create income-generating opportunities for women through the production and sale of biogas slurry as fertiliser ,participation in biogas construction and maintenance services and enhancing agricultural productivity, food security through the use of biogas digestators fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among women farmers. This Project is being supported by STICHING de BOOMGAARD. We are incredibly grateful for partnering with us , this engagement will create incredible opportunities for young people and women.
