Hydropore
Nonprecious metals like zinc, magnesium, and aluminum react vigorously with water to create hydrogen gas, but in nature quickly forms a layer of water-resistant metal oxide that stops the reaction dead.
Hydropore’s technology activates these nonprecious metals by creating sponge-like structures within them, giving nonprecious metals a vast internal surface area. This makes the metal oxide blocking layer irrelevant and allows nearly all the nonprecious metal to react with water – producing lots of hydrogen gas as shown in the video.
Hydropore’s novel, energy-dense, activated zinc and activated aluminum could be used with water on-site to produce tons of hydrogen per day for hydrogen fuelling stations. They can also be used to produce hydrogen on-demand to feed fuel cells that power drones, heavy-duty vehicles, and generators.
What makes Hydropore’s technology unique is the fact that our activated zinc is multiple-use: Once hydrogen is produced from the reaction of zinc with water, spent zinc can be reactivated by the consumer for reuse.
