We end the last week of Women’s Month with a special note from our CEO, Christina Watson. “Teachers who are competent also need to be confident in their competence in order to perform well.” At Via Afrika, we believe that the foundation of a great education system lies in empowering our teachers. Competence is key, but confidence in that competence is what truly drives excellence in the classroom. When teachers believe in their abilities, they can inspire, engage, and uplift their learners to reach their full potential. Let us continue to support our educators, providing them with the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to thrive. Together, we can build a brighter future for our learners. #EmpowerHER #WomensMonth #OurTeachersOurFuture

Did you know? Rahima Moosa and her twin sister Fatima were not just fearless anti-apartheid activists — they were also masters of disguise! The Moosa twins cleverly used their identical looks to confuse security branch officers, often switching identities to avoid harassment and continue their resistance work undetected. Their quick thinking and bravery allowed them to play a crucial role in the struggle for freedom, including leading the iconic 1956 Women’s March. Rahima and Fatima’s story is a testament to the power of sisterhood, resilience, and the creative ways women resisted apartheid. #EmpowerHER #WomensMonth

This march, which saw 20 000 women protesting the oppressive pass laws, remains one of the most significant moments in South African history. As the last surviving leader of the march, Sophia continues to be a powerful symbol of resilience and courage in the fight for equality and justice in South Africa. #WomensMonth #EmpowerHer
