Part 2 of the Tiger Women’s Network “Conversations of Purpose” continues today in celebration of Women’s Month. We reflect on the inspiring and powerful messages shared by our Tiger panelists who spoke about what purpose means to them, both personally and professionally. Carmel Isaacs shared that her purpose is to make a difference in people’s lives, whether through a smile, a hug, or the service and support she provides. As a People Leader, she believes it is important to nourish and nurture the lives of our internal consumers, our People, throughout the entire employee life cycle, and always treat people with respect. Sekubedi Thoka explained that, as an athlete, if you set yourself personal targets to work towards, it doesn’t matter how small your wins are. In running, an improvement from the previous run is a win, regardless of how big or small it might be. He shared a few lessons that he has learnt during his career, namely that you need to be visible; you need to be specific about what you want to achieve; and you need to be eager to learn. He encouraged women to never stop challenging themselves, since it is your life, it is your career, and you must own it. Lebogang Kekana shared that being intentional about her job and ensuring that our products are available and accessible to our consumers, connects her to Tiger’s purpose of “nourishing and nurturing more lives every day”. She believes that we have all been given different talents, and her purpose is to multiply her God-given talents and to serve others with those talents. #TigerWomensNetwork

Tiger Brands recently celebrated Women’s Month with an inspiring and authentic conversation around PURPOSE. Hosted by the Tiger Women’s Network, our Tiger panellists spoke about what purpose means to them, both personally and professionally, and shared their experiences and lessons with the organisation. It was a deeply meaningful and reflective conversation, and we’d like to share just a few snippets of the honest and inspiring messages. Reneilwe Maenetja explained that you can’t separate your personal journey from your professional journey. When you are true to how you’re feeling, you’ll be able to lead authentically. She is very honest about how she feels, and because of this, she is able to raise her hand when she is struggling and needs help. And when she knows she can do something, she raises her hand and asks to lead. She added that she has learnt that the rise of women does not mean the fall of men. We need to recognise the strength we carry in ourselves and the strength that men carry. Regardless of your role or title, you are accounting to the gifts and responsibilities that you were trusted with. Serve well, serve with love, serve with kindness. Ravi Moodley spoke about the role that leaders can play to support and encourage the development of female leaders. He explained that development is a two-way street. There’s a responsibility on the manager to create development opportunities, but there’s also a responsibility on the employee to raise your hand and say you’re ready. Leaders should be intentional about having developmental conversations every day. A leader is only a leader when they create other leaders. Leaders should be accessible and build relationships by removing barriers. Cecile Van Wyk shared what it means to her to live every day with purpose. She explained that you have to work hard for what you want to achieve in life. She did not just find a job, she chose to build a career. She works hard and she works with pride. But her family knows that they come first. She encouraged everyone to not let the disappointments get you down but to look at the positives and learn from them. As women, we must work hard and take pride in our work and stand up for it. Thulisa Mari reminded us of the Japanese concept of ikigai. It is about what you love (passion), what you’re good at (profession), your mission (what does the world needs), and what you can get paid for (vocation). It is the intersection of your professional and personal purpose. She has learnt that, in order to live your purpose, you need to know what you are passionate about and what matters most to you. She tries to be intentional every day about what matters to her. She encouraged everyone to think about what you are learning, what you are contributing, and how you can stretch yourself. Look out next week for part 2 of this inspiring conversation as we continue to celebrate National Women’s Month. #WomensMonth

Behind every bottle of Tiger Brands' more than 100-year-old brand All Gold Tomato Sauce is a truly South African story that touches hundreds of local lives every year. From the tomatoes used to produce All Gold Tomato Sauce, planted by local hands in local soil and picked by local hard-working people, to the local Tiger Brands facilities and employees who process and package the product that finds its way into millions of South African homes to nourish and nurture at every meal occasion. We recently took the complete journey an All Gold Tomato Sauce tomato takes: from Seedling to Plate. From the historical city of Musina (Messina) in the northernmost part of Limpopo where thousands of years old Baobabs line the road to the home of All Gold Tomato Sauce in Boksburg, Johannesburg.     The journey starts with the tomato seedlings of select varieties specified by Tiger Brands that are grown by local nurseries and which at least 108 local Musina farmers plant. At harvest time between April and September, more than 600 workers and 4 000 seasonal workers carefully pick tonnes of only the best quality tomatoes, which travel to the Tiger Brands Musina Tomato Paste Plant to be processed according to stringent and specific quality specifications into tomato paste. This tomato paste then travels more than 525 km from Musina to Tiger Brands' Culinary Plant in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, where it is used to make All Gold Tomato Sauce.

Tiger Brands celebrated National Women’s Day under the theme of “Conversations of Purpose”. Our keynote speaker, Khethiwe Nkuna (Executive: Responsible Business, Accenture) and our own Tiger Brands employees spoke about what purpose means to them, both professionally and personally, and how they connect to Tiger Brands’ purpose of “nourishing and nurturing more lives every day”. It was an inspiring and authentic conversation that reminded us all, both men and women, of the importance of living every day with purpose.    #WomensMonth2024 #TigerWomensNetwork
