Our Brussels office is located in the heart of the EU Bubble and is within walking distance of several key institutions. Senior Marketing Manager Ani Gundes shares more about the space and local team. ⬇️ Why would you recommend the Brussels office to someone who’s interested in joining the firm? Ani: Our office represents around 21 nationalities and spoken languages. Throughout the year, we organize various external and internal events for our staff such as Thursday Hangout Drinks, neck massages for Mental Health Awareness Week and more. The best time to catch up with people is at 3:00 p.m. in the kitchen when the afternoon snacks are out. The most sought-after treats are the M&Ms! How does your office give back to the community? Ani: Our yearly charity partner is @Serve the City Brussels, a global movement of volunteers showing kindness in practical ways to people in need. We partner with homeless shelters, refugee centers and other associations. The team supports the organization by preparing bags with food and necessities and distributing them to the public. What is one memorable event you have from the Brussels office? Ani: We are so lucky with the view – you can catch the most amazing sunsets and sunrises, especially during the winter when the sun sets super early and you are still in office! Are there any interesting landmarks around the Brussels office? Ani: We have a view of the Royal Palace, the park and the Court of Justice. The beautiful Grand’Place (main square) and Manneken Pis are only a 15-minute walk away, as well as the best French fries and waffle shops! What are some of your favorite office features? Ani: The office space is very modern and spacious and has great design items, like our restored lamps. Above all, the team is very happy to have an indoor garden where they can have lunch, meetings or office drinks when the weather is nice. What is one fun fact about Brussels? Ani: Brussels is a small but very multicultural city (a bit like our team!). Belgium’s official languages are French, Dutch and German.

Senior Director Robert Miś, CFA has been with #TeamFTI for a decade. Below, he reflects on his career, achievements and greatest influences. What drew you to FTI Consulting? Robert: When I was working at a boutique firm specializing in securities litigation, I found myself eager to broaden my professional horizons. I wanted to expand my capabilities into other practice areas and engage with sophisticated, cutting-edge projects. FTI Consulting offered exactly that – a global platform where I could tackle complex challenges across various industries. The opportunity to work on international projects was the icing on the cake. After all, who wouldn't want a job that occasionally comes with a passport stamp? As a native Polish speaker, what would you say is the biggest benefit of being bilingual? Robert: Being a native Polish speaker has been a significant asset in my career. Speaking the language natively allows me to capture subtle yet critical linguistic and cultural nuances that might otherwise slip through the cracks and negatively impact project outcomes. People abroad genuinely appreciate it when you make the effort to communicate in their language; it builds rapport and fosters smoother collaboration. Plus, it doesn't hurt to know how to properly pronounce "szczęście" when discussing success metrics! What is your greatest personal or professional achievement? Robert: My greatest professional achievement has to be my first testimony in a trial of national significance at a federal court. I was on the stand for nearly four hours, thoroughly grilled from every angle. At the time, I felt like I might have blanked out under the pressure. However, the attorneys later told me that my testimony was so strong it "became the backbone" of the case. Knowing that my work had such a pivotal impact was incredibly rewarding. On the personal side, completing an Ironman triathlon is a highlight I'm particularly proud of. Crossing that finish line after miles of swimming, biking and running was a moment of immense satisfaction. In both instances, it was commitment and discipline that got me to the finish line. Who knew that endurance training prepares you equally well for marathons and cross-examinations? Who has had the greatest influence on your career? Robert: When it comes to the greatest influence on my career, I'd have to start with my wife, Sarah. She's been my strongest supporter and sounding board, always ready with insightful advice or a much-needed dose of perspective. Her unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of motivation. Professionally, I've been fortunate to work with many remarkable colleagues and mentors whose input has been invaluable and whose careers are nothing short of inspiring. Their guidance has shaped not just my skills but also my approach to tackling challenges. They've taught me that success isn't just a solo endeavor, it's a team sport.
