I was privileged to attend the Jambojet career fair at the Pride Centre in Kenya held on 31st October 2024 under the theme “Future of Aviation: Innovation, Opportunities and Career Pathways” It was an opportunity to meet stake holders in the industry, students, aviation enthusiasts and fellow aviation professionals. My highlight was the breakout session “take off and landing, pilots on the ground and the skies” Captains Pauline, Ted, Micheal and Maina emphasized the importance of mentorship in both personal and professional growth. We also discussed the three aspects that make a good aviator; Knowledge, skills and attitude. A huge thank you to Jumbojet for putting this together, I was positively impacted. Was my honor to join the AVI-STEM events in Venda, South Africa and excited to share my passion for aviation!!

📢 AVI-STEM Event Recap: Venda, South Africa We are thrilled to share the incredible impact of our recent AVI-STEM outreach event in Venda, South Africa, where we had the privilege of engaging with over 500 students from three local secondary schools: Mbilwi Secondary School – 360 students Davhana Secondary School – 120 students Ozias Davhana Secondary School – 60 students This event was a monumental experience for the students, many of whom had never been exposed to aviation careers, nor had they seen an aircraft up close before. For most of them, witnessing a drone in action was a first, and they were thrilled to take turns flying one! The sight of a female pilot added to their excitement—it was an empowering and inspiring moment to show these young minds that women can excel in aviation and STEM careers. Our AVI-STEM team brought a model aircraft, which sparked curiosity and awe, especially for students who had never seen an airplane before. It was not just about seeing the model; it was about planting the seeds of possibility, showing them that careers in aviation are within their reach. Additionally, Girl Up Zimbabwe led transformative workshops on critical topics such as leadership, teenage pregnancy, bullying, and more. The girls found a safe space to share, learn, and be empowered. It was an important moment for them to see role models who care about their personal and academic growth. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible team who made this event a success: Deborah Hecker, EMBA Amanda Kandawire Nyasha Natasha Muzadzi Timukudze Hungwe Ngonidzashe Machaka ISTAT Foundation Your dedication and support have made an unforgettable difference in these students' lives. Together, we are building future leaders in aviation and STEM. The smiles, the excitement, and the newfound sense of possibility in these students will remain with us for a long time. We look forward to continuing our mission of inspiring and empowering the next generation of African aviation professionals! ✈️🚀 #AVI-STEM #AfricanLeadersInAviation #Inspiration #STEMCareers #AviationEducation #GirlsInSTEM #Venda

  • Thank you Sharlenee Naidoo from team Fireblade Aviation for the wonderful gifts you provided to the children at Rolina Orphanage. FLY is a children's book that inspires young readers to dream big and shows them that exciting adventures await. The children truly enjoyed the books; these stories are like seeds that will nurture their great dreams for the future. Congratulations on this remarkable initiative. Many children's lives will be positively impacted because of it. Khodani Davhana Sara Bauermeister

  • Girls’ vision for the future The 2024 International Day of the Girl theme is ‘Girls’ vision for the future’. This year’s theme conveys both the need for urgent action and persistent hope, driven by the power of girls’ voices and vision for the future. Today’s generation of girls is disproportionately affected by global crises of climate, conflict, poverty and pushback on hard won gains for human rights and gender equality. Too many girls are still denied their rights, restricting their choices and limiting their futures. Yet, recent analysis shows that girls are not only courageous in the face of crisis, but hopeful for the future. Every day, they are taking action to realize a vision of a world in which all girls are protected, respected and empowered. But girls cannot realize this vision alone. They need allies who listen to and respond to their needs. With the right support, resources and opportunities, the potential of the world’s more than 1.1 billion girls is limitless. And when girls lead, the impact is immediate and wide reaching: families, communities and economies are all stronger, our future brighter. It is time to listen to girls, to invest in proven solutions that will accelerate progress towards a future in which every girl can fulfil her potential. https://lnkd.in/gn6uQwz

  • African Leaders in Aviation are deeply honored to have participated in the 2nd Rwanda AVI-STEM event in Kigali, where they had the privilege of welcoming 100 talented young girls, including some from last year’s school visits. The program is designed to foster continuity, ensuring that the organization re-engages with students previously met and reinforces the lessons shared. Seeing these young girls’ growth and their ongoing passion for aviation has been incredibly rewarding. In collaboration with Girl Up, United Nations Foundation Rwanda, who generously provided sanitary towels for each participant, and Women in Aviation International, who supplied Girls in Aviation Day kits, the event ensured that the girls were supported holistically. The Rwanda Airports Company (RAC) graciously facilitated an engaging tour of the airport, offering students invaluable insights into the aviation world, guided by knowledgeable staff. The event was also honored to host Rebecca, a local Rwandese pilot, who spent the day sharing her inspiring journey and vast experience, motivating the girls with her story. RwandAir played a key role by allowing the girls to explore an aircraft up close, filling them with excitement and awe. African Leaders in Aviation would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Rwanda Airports Company for their support, especially for facilitating the tour and providing their expert staff to guide the students. Special gratitude also goes to the Girl Up Rwanda team, who were instrumental in the success of the event, and the students themselves for their enthusiasm and active participation. Their energy and passion made the day a remarkable success. A huge thank you to all partners and sponsors, including ISTAT Foundation and Women in Aviation International, for their dedication to empowering the next generation of leaders. Together, they continue to inspire and uplift young girls, changing the narrative and paving the way for future aviation leaders. • African Leaders in Aviation express deep gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the Girls in Aviation Day in Entebbe, Uganda, in collaboration with Air Serv. The event was a tremendous success, made possible by the commitment and hard work of the incredible team on the ground. Their efforts in planning and delivering a memorable day for around 100 enthusiastic girls were truly remarkable. We are especially grateful for the strong and ongoing relationship we have with Air Serv, which continues to be a key partner in our mission to inspire and empower young girls across the continent. In partnership with Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Uganda Airlines, the event featured engaging panel discussions on various aviation careers, led by inspiring female professionals from the industry. It was heartwarming to see the girls actively participate with curiosity, asking insightful and intelligent questions throughout the sessions. One of the day's highlights was the visit to the airport, where the girls had the unique opportunity to board a Uganda Airlines A330. The day was further enriched with delicious snacks and a warm lunch, making it an unforgettable experience. Under the theme "From Dreams to Destinations: Building a Sustainable Aviation Career for the Girl Child," the event aimed to spark a passion for aviation and inspire the next generation of female aviators and leaders. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners, ISTAT Foundation and Women in Aviation International, whose generous support was instrumental in making this event a success. Together, we are changing the narrative and empowering African youth, one step at a time.
