We see opportunity in every story and believe that stories have the power to inspire, uplift, and drive positive change. That’s why we are proud to sponsor Amaqhawe (Our Heroes), a TV show that shines a spotlight on ordinary South Africans making an extraordinary impact in their communities. This initiative reinforces our commitment to empowering Africa’s tomorrow - together, one story at a time - as we acknowledge and celebrate the diverse and impactful stories that shape our nation. As we journey through the lives of these remarkable individuals, we are reminded of the power of perseverance, the importance of giving back, and the belief that your story is unstoppable—because your story matters. In partnership with Business Unity SA (BUSA), we brought together industry leaders to explore the impact of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on Africa's exports. CBAM may pose challenges, but it also offers Africa a unique opportunity to rewrite its industrial story – one where sustainability drives both growth and global leadership. By modernising industries and embracing eco-friendly practices, African economies can not only comply with international standards but also lead in shaping a greener, more inclusive future. We believe every challenge is a new chapter, and every step forward in sustainability is a story worth telling — because your story matters. We’re proud to announce the graduation of 33 talented students from the Absa Cybersecurity Academy. Amidst a global shortage of nearly four million cyber professionals, this milestone represents not only the accomplishments of these young individuals, but a crucial step in growing the cyber sector. This year marks five years of collaboration between the Absa Group and the Maharishi Invincibility Institute, and three years with the Hein Wagner Academy. By partnering with the Hein Wagner Academy, Absa has helped visually-impaired youth become internationally recognised cybersecurity professionals – working as a force for good and increasing diversity and inclusion in the cyber industry. The Absa Cybersecurity Academy's comprehensive three-year academic curriculum encompasses formal technical education, practical hands-on experience, intensive personal mastery, real-world workplace skills and soft skills development. Students graduate with internationally recognised certifications in cybersecurity – providing access to worldwide job placement. This year, Absa has committed to providing internships for 20 individuals from the programme and is actively brokering partnerships with other institutions to help place the remaining graduates for internships and eventual employment. Hosted by H.E Dr. Majid AlKassabi (Saudi Minister of Commerce) and H.E Mr. Parks Tau (Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition), this is a crucial step towards greater private sector engagement and expanding trade partnerships between the two nations. As a Pan-African business with a presence across the globe, this MoU is further evidence of our increasing commercial impact across multiple geographies. We are delighted about the new working relationship with Saudi EXIM Bank and look forward to a long-term, and mutually beneficial relationship.
