Throughout the world history, it has been a major concern to the people who protest and stand against it. In social terms, it is also regarded as otherism in which it symbolises a negative figure damaging social connections between people. It is a view that categorises someone based on her qualities like her sex, colour of skin or sect which creates a division within the society by making someone superior or inferior to someone else. His language and characters both made him the most popular writer of the Victorian age and his books are still popular all around the world. Owing to his plot and character development in Great Expectations, he portrays the dark side and negative aspects of class difference in addition to his experiences that occurred during his childhood like deprival of education. Furthermore, he depicts the reversing relationships between people on account of class differences. Hence, his novel mirrors the changing status of people due to social classes and shows the power of the Industrial Revolution in Victorian England.

The poems in Sonnets cover themes such as mortality, beauty, love, jealousy and, time. The main objective of this paper is to investigate how Shakespeare deploys the concept of time in his selected sonnets by challenging and at times blaming it for devastating his Dark Lady and Fair Youth. Besides four sonnets that are dealt with in this paper, abstract nature and authority of time are seen in many other sonnets because it is regarded as a cruel tyrant. On the one hand he begs time to leave his beloved young and beautiful; on the other hand, it can be concluded that he condemns time for it kills and devastates everything in the universe, most importantly his beloved.
