The sushi was so good and there are a ton of options to choose from- rolls, appetizers, sashimi, salads. It can get crowded, so a reservation is recommended. Staff was very friendly. Parking is easy.
I brought my boyfriend here and we had a great time. I wish they were open a little later during the week, but I'm a night owl.
One star off because the prices were high and the bill was a lot more than other sushi spots in the area. Aside from that, the fish is fresh and delicious.
We got the red dragon, salmon carpaccio, Winchester and quail egg with tobiko roll.
No pics because we devoured everything too quickly!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 5, 2024
Decent-sized sushi restaurant near Valleyfair mall. They could definitely host a big party but their parking lot is on the smaller side so I'd recommend carpooling. It can get pretty packed during dinner time.
Food: 3/5 For the price, I expected the quality to be better but the rolls were okay. We also got the calamari rings but they were not at all what we expected. It tasted more like a mozzarella stick. It also did not come with the honey wasabi sauce that was mentioned on the menu. Their miso soup was good though and they gave each customer a complimentary bowl.
Service: 3/5 Our server was nice and checked on us a couple times. The rest of the staff did not look happy to be there though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 26, 2024Updated review2 check-ins
I've frequented this place for the past several years and food is always good. Service here has always been great, amazing even. It's the reason I keep coming back and bringing other people.
Today's service was sub par. I'm both surprised and appalled by the attitude of the waitress I had tonight. If you don't want to be at your job, don't go. Don't show up to give sub par service.
Waitress did not check in with my table throughout the meal; she came to drop off food, take the orders, take away a couple of plates at the end and give us the check before we were done eating. She also didn't offer dessert - which we actually wanted but instead she brought the bill.
While I'm not pleased with the service my table received today, I still left her a tip.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 15, 2024Previous reviewMizu's flavor palette never misses!
When I'm craving fresh fish, this is my go-to.
The place is a bit pricey and always packed but it's worth it. Portion sizes are big, so don't let the price scare you.
This place is almost always packed so expect a wait, no matter what. It's loud and crammed. Ask for a booth if you can, save yourself the hassle and bumping back to back with strangers. - Susan L.Fremont, CA1141313Sep 7, 2024
My family and I went to eat early dinner at 5:30pm on Saturday. First of al... front desk guy seemed lost. there were handful of people waiting but he was just very slow and didn't know what he's doing. we had a baby and stroller and he told us that he'll store the baby stroller but didn't give any directions.
Second, we got a hostess name Monica. We came to Mizu handful of times and we know the amount. When we were about to order sushi boat, she said "oh that's a lot of food" and she basically ordered it for us. My mother is not really a fan of raw fish so we ordered her pork katsu from kids menu (since bento box is only served during lunch). Monica the server literally said "it's for under 10". Okay? we are the customers and we are the one who's paying? but is it necessary for her to really tell us that? Table behind us ordered kids menu katsu but seems like she didn't ask that table. Once my mom got her katsu, they forgot to bring sauce. After eating, my mom nicely informed Monica that she forgot the katsu sauce and she was aggressive and said "do you want the sauce now?" hahaha Monica is such a joke!
We ordered extra roll (alaska roll) and it was very poorly wrapped. When I grabbed the roll, it broke apart and couldn't even eat them.
I used to come here a lot because food and ambiance was great but it went downhill fast.
Don't get Monica as your server.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 14, 20242 check-ins
Location isn't far from Santana Row where we were staying and I wanted sushi while he wanted bulgolgi. We found a place that can satisfy our cravings. Ample parking and the food and service is great. The rolls were bigger than I expected but I'm not complaining. He loved the bulgolgi and we took home the leftovers. Will be aback again!!

I'd give this restaurant a try if I were you
Mizu is the best Sushi Resto in San Jo that I've experienced. Probably one of the top '10' on Yelp?
Great service and excellent food. Drinks, Apps, Entrées and Presentations are above and beyond!Helpful 7Thanks 3Love this 4Oh no 1 - 51130Jun 19, 2024
This place had some of the most unique menu offerings I've seen. If you're a fan of truffle, get the yellowtail crudo. The flavor profiles are immaculate.
Everything else was good value and great quality also. Definitely stop by if you're looking for a high quality sushi spot in the bay area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alisha J.Los Altos Hills, CA01225Sep 30, 2024
The food tasted great and there were a lot of roll options to choose from. I got the sunkissed roll and in my opinion it was a perfect amount of food. Although I will say the peices themseleves were quite large. The service was very fast and efficient, our server was quite attentive. Although it was lunchtime on monday so not many people to begin with. The decorations were nice and pretty not so traditional but very clean and open.

Ambiance: The Mizu San Jose location is a place we go to from time to time. The ambiance of this place is average (i.e. - read nothing special whatsoever). The tables are crammed together like a cafeteria and the booths are tight and uncomfortable.
Service: We have been here a few times (twice in the past 12 months) and I have to say both times the servers were SLOW, unresponsive to our asks, and the service just seemed to be strained. I am not sure if this is because they have a ton of tables and are short staffed or the servers simply don't care.
Food: I would say the food is AVERAGE (i.e. - not great but not bad either...very average). Here is what we ordered for the table:
Apps
--------
* Agedashi Tofu: The app was tasty and we all enjoyed it.
* Spicy Popcorn Scallops: This app was OK...nothing great.
Mains
---------
* Chicken Bulgogi: My parents got this to share and I have to say I tried it and it was DELICIOUS! The chicken was very tender and tasty!
* Salmon Teriyaki (Kids): My son got this and enjoyed the fish but didn't care for the rest of the stuff on the plate.
* Chicken Katsu: My older son got this and he finished ALL of the chicken which means it was very tasty as he is quite picky.
* Rainbow Blossom: This had an EXCELLENT presentation and was quite good.
* Shrimp Tempura Roll: My wife always gets this at almost all the places we go and she said that this was good.
Price: I would say, given that the ambiance is average at best, service is below average, and food is average to good...the price is NOT a great value for money (THIS is the reason I am giving this place a 3 star review). I would go here only if there is no where else to go.
Ps: The menu is extremely hard to follow and not designed well!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
