The staff told me to be careful with the chickpea sandwich - that it lived on a razors edge between raving praise and scathing criticism. I dared to ride this culinary wave and am now swimming in its delicious tide, with my tastebuds thankful that we took this ride. Thank you to the wonderful staff of this establishment for embracing new frontiers of sandwich-ry as well as great conversation and hospitality.

      Strong recommendation!

I will consistently give Matt & Marie's five stars, but that is with a caveat. Under no circumstance get the sandwich or salad with the chickpea patty. You're thinking falafel right, as any respectable person would? WRONG. This is an unseasoned, dry, tastes between cardboard and air, just terrible thing. I'm not sure what they were trying to do here, but they need to fix it.

On a more positive note, the tuna has a fantastic twist (with balsamic!) and their turkey is on point.

Thank you for the 5 stars!!!! Totally agree - acquired taste for sure on chickpea. It’s both a dreadfully hated and loved sandwich! Yay for the Turkey!!!! Lol

I have complaints but the food was so good I don't care, 5 stars.

Just ordered a hot roast beef. There was issues with ordering and pickup. One being that it actually didn't come out hot, more of hoagie cold meat with hot cheese and bread. (Even though I clarified like 3 times to make it hot.) There's other things that got under my skin but I won't post them here.

But damn is this sandwich good, yumm. Definitely grab a few sandwiches from here and find one you love.

The meatball sub was phenomenal - great flavorful tender meatballs with fantastic marinara. We also had the Italian Stallion which has just the right amount of spice. The crusty sesame seed hoagie rolls exterior and soft inside take the sandwiches up a notch. I would buy just the rolls. Excellent food and service!

Walked passed this location so many times that I had to stop in and try it. Cute little shop. Few indoor tables but I took it to go. Not a huge menu but I'm sure they would make a custom sandwich if asked. They made my sandwich right in front of me and they were so fast which is always nice.

I ordered Uncle G turkey. It was turkey with pancetta and a garlic aioli. The aioli tasted more like mayo and I wasn't the biggest fan. I may go back and try a different sandwich. But I'd rather try a new place.

The hype is real when it comes to the Italian Stallion. It's a delicious Italian hoagie, probably the best in Center City. I've also eaten the meatball parm sandwich. Although tasty, It's not memorable and I can get better ones elsewhere in Center city.

It's best to avoid the crowd and order ahead. My order has always been waiting for me ahead of estimates. The Italian Stallion will keep Matt & Marie's a regular part of my lunch rotation.

Ordered lunch from here today via Uber Eats. I cannot believe how disappointing it was. I ordered the Italian Stallion and specifically noted to have the aioli on the side because I was pretty sure I would not like it. Instead, they ignored my note and it was loaded with aioli which was disgusting. The cheese was chopped up and there wasn't much there, nor was there enough meat and the meat was slimy and gross. The only thing that would have been good was the roll except it was coated with aioli. This was just so bad, I had to throw it out.

When I called them no one answered. Big waste of money.

I really, really want to give this place more than 2 stars. The sandwich wasn't bad. I think the flavors were there. But. I found a plastic piece in the sandwich. That's a huge no-no for me. In addition to the plastic, the bread was soggy.

I was surprised to learn that Matt & Marie's customizes your sandwich even after you order something off their standard menu (I ordered this online).

Plus points for using seeded bread for sandwiches.

Plastic found in my sandwich :(

ordered a birthday lunch from one of my favorite sandwich shops today.
they forgot one sandwich and when i contacted them i was told the driver would not be back for at lease 15 minutes.

the original order arrived at 11:40 am, i am sitting here at 3:14 pm with no lunch

you would think customer service would be important, not today

I will spread the work, the female worker I contacted at 1 pm today did not give a rats ass if i had my lunch today
