Q:
Is this business still open? Their phone line is always busy and when I try to order online, it says the business is either closed or not taking online orders right now. It’s 7pm on a Friday.
A:
Their small takeout location is still open, not the larger restaurant.

Is this a good/appropriate place to get some work done (on laptop) on the weekends? Reviews look great - just wondering about working and weekend wifi! Thanks!
A:
I think this place is super busy on weekends but since the new location is bigger than the old spot perhaps it won't be a big deal if you're there on your laptop. Perhaps try going after brunch hours to check it out.

Came here for a super light dinner and chose the Gourmet Chimi sandwich with Yuca Fries. Absolutely delicious and hit the spot just right. Had it with an ice cold Original Sin Hard Cider. This place is a very small hole in the wall and has a great selection of wine, tapas as well as great food. Service was a little slow but I was in no rush. No disappointments here!

Last night was the first time visiting the new location and I loved it!
The staff was friendly, especially the bartender from Puerto Rico and the gentleman at the door. There's such a cozy feel to it, like a hidden local gem. Will def. be coming back.
My only suggestion is the amount/size of ice in the cocktails, petty I know. But as an ex bartender I was shocked to see fresh cocktail mixes being diluted with such a large amount of crushed ice. The ice chips were so small and ran about two-three inches high in such a small glass. Usually the smaller the glass, the less ice. It diluted the drinks much faster than I would have hoped and took away from the flavor. Would love to see a large cube or a large ice ball!
Nonetheless, I'll be back =)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daulys L.Bronx, NY1234113Jan 9, 2016
Walked in and was expecting the place to be bigger but it was a nice dim atmosphere. Walked in and sat down at a table for 2.
Me and my friend placed our orders which was crab cakes, broiled salmon, and she got the grilled chicken and avocado dish. We waited a good 20 minutes for the crab cakes to come out which I felt like was a little to long.
The staff was very attentive though. When I finished my plate they came in right away and scooped it up and made room for the next.
Overall good food, good service and the only complaint is the timing of the food but will definitely be coming back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm already looking forward to welcoming you back, Daulys. So glad you appreciate our cozy, quaint atmosphere, by the way. From the crab cakes to the salmon, you tried some of my favorite things! Can't wait until next time.
If you don't mind my asking, how did you hear about us? I'd love to know.
Hope to chat,

Swung by yesterday with a friend for an early dinner after a visit to the Cloisters Museum. We both ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and asked that a low amount of oil be used in the preparation. The entree was outstanding -- the creamed spinach (which is more of a sauce surrounding the fish and potatoes) complimented the fish so perfectly. The potatoes were served in the most healthful way: simply mashed with no butter or other needless crap.
I am very difficult to please, but in this instance, I was very pleased! Service was attentive and pleasant, as well. I hope to return next time I'm in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Roy J.Inwood, Manhattan, NY0327Nov 17, 2017Updated review
Dearest Peckish readers
I have previously reviewed this restaurant, but feel compelled to update my review since the proprietor has recently opened a bigger, more ambitious undertaking that is worthy for a proper review. Firstly, the stellar experience we had begins and ends with our bartender, Isaiah. We were seated at the bar and witnessed how this one man, like a wunderkind or like some marvel super hero handled the ineptitude of the wait staff's substandard training. We sat at the bar and witnessed wait staff coming behind, taking items out of his cooler, making mistakes and asking him to fix their orders, all while training a new barback. Waitresses were not entering drinks correctly, distracting Isaiah, and the manager was Clueless, self-centered and not customer centered. I'm guessing she's new.... which means, you work the damn room. You work the room like a politician. As we sat, appalled at how much this bartender had to deal with, she came by , standing in the bar walk way, barking orders, and not being helpful. I wasn't impressed with her professionalism or demeanor. She needs to be fired. I know this may sound draconian and cruel the customer is not at the center of your operations, she is. This is not a chance for her to parade around and look cute and bark orders.
Proprietor: you've spent so much money on top shelf scotch, decorations, good food, buy some damn proper wine glasses,: meaning glasses for white wine/ glasses for red.(I mean it is called Beans and Wine, and to that point, is it still a coffee shop by day, Vis-a-vis, the original name? Maybe consider marketing a different name for an upscale clientele.) 99 cent store glasses for wine done cute it.
I'd encourage you to sit at the bar when Isiah is there, if they can keep him. He's amazing.
Th music choice is... manic: more like a schizophrenic on meth. The atmosphere lends itself to frank Sinatra, but country music was playing, followed by guns and roses, maroon 5. Ambiance is everything. Music should Create an atmosphere and theme, it shouldn't be manic and
Distracting and it should not be what the manager wants to hear. It's not about you, girlfriend.
Dessert was terrible. Apple crisp came out luke warm, plate was dirty, and it looked like the waiter ran into someone because the top of my dessert was grazed with a sleeve.
Let me say this... the food is amazing for the most part. with the exception of the amazing bartender, ISAIAH (who made the experience 5 stars) the service was terrible. If you read this, dear proprietor, take note and fix it. Otherwise your great reputation from the former will diminish.
I really really wanted to like this experience but it seems the upgrade of the former restaurant is a downgrade.

Hi, Roy. Our feedback at the new location has been predominately positive, so I'm truly surprised that you didn't experience our usual standard of excellence. It sounds like you caught us on an off day, but I'll be sure to speak with the team so that we can continue our reputation for a phenomenal customer experience. We're committed to ensuring that you receive friendly and attentive service from beginning to end in addition to deliciously prepared meals. My hope is that we'll get a second chance to show you better. Thank you for your feedback.
Sincerely,

A-MAZING. Huge portions, reasonable prices, lovely atmosphere! I had the south western fish taco... I used to hate the word "fish taco".... Not anymore. Ashely was our hostess and wonderful waitress... What an angel. Warm, lovely, welcoming,

The food was OK but the service could have been better. First they didn't wanna move us to another table clamming that it was rush hour but mind you the restaurant was empty; roughly 10 people, smh. Also the waitress was not rounding on us like he should have.

My first time coming here was for Valentine's Day maybe two or three years ago (At the old location).
It was small and intimate. I came here the other night after seeing they relocated for a slightly larger area. Wow has this place changed!
The new location is super clean, sleek, and modern. They have a small bar area now with almost the feel of a lounge. They really did an incredible job.
The food has always been amazing. This time though, they really stepped it up. For appetizers we did the fish tacos. They came with two tacos, the fish was lightly breaded and super crispy.
For my meal I had a pasta dish with spicy sausage, it had just the right amount of heat. I almost didn't want to finish it so I could save it for later.
Above all, the bread pudding was absolutely insane. It had a hint of orange that truly took it over the too.
The staff was also knowledgeable and friendly. Our waiter was always around and checking up on us.
Couldn't find something to complain about even if I wanted to.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Angie, thank you for returning to us! It's wonderful to hear that our location changes left a positive impression. As for our food, that hasn't changed, and we're glad we're still serving up some of the locals favorites. We appreciate your continued support so much, and we look forward to your next visit.
Wishing you well,

This place has amazing food and customer service. I have been to there prior location across the street which was smaller and loved it then. Now that they have the larger location I am happy I can bring a larger group there. I was in a party of two and we ordered three appetizers. The catfish tacos, crabmeat guacamole and sautéed calamari. They were all fantastic. Especially the catfish tacos and sautéed calamari. For dessert we shared the bread pudding topped with ice cream which was wonderful! We had a great waiter, Pedro. He was attentive and friendly. He knew about whiskey which gives him points in my book! Wonderful place, great service, fantastic food. DEFINITELY RETURNING!

I ordered take out from here yesterday. I walked in the restaurant, it's really small, walked to the bar and was greeted by a pretty & pleasant young lady, she said my order would be right up....she was pouring a glass of wine for someone else. As soon as she walked away to serve the tbl the wine, another employee came over to me to ask if I was being helped...he went and got my order. I live for ATTENTIVE SERVICE! Don't have me standing in your establishment turning gray, waiting for a "hello, how may I help you" So 4 stars for customer service.
Now...for the main character...THE FOOD. I ordered the catfish tacos & the chicken & avocado panini. Omg...the fish tacos were heavenly. The Panini was pretty good..whatever spread was used...could've used more...it was a little dry for my taste, but still a solid panini. If you like things to be creamy & moist like I do...ask for extra spread...I think its pesto.
I'll be back! (In my best Arnold Schwartzenneger voice)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

This is great, Kelisiah! I'm so glad that our fish tacos really blew you away, and I appreciate the feedback about the panini. We can definitely put some extra spread on there next time for you. Speaking of next time, I can't wait to welcome you back!
Was this your first time ever trying us out, by the way? I have to know.
Hope to hear back,
