Q:
Is this business still open? Their phone line is always busy and when I try to order online, it says the business is either closed or not taking online orders right now. It’s 7pm on a Friday.
A:
Their small takeout location is still open, not the larger restaurant.

Is this a good/appropriate place to get some work done (on laptop) on the weekends? Reviews look great - just wondering about working and weekend wifi! Thanks!
A:
I think this place is super busy on weekends but since the new location is bigger than the old spot perhaps it won't be a big deal if you're there on your laptop. Perhaps try going after brunch hours to check it out.

Evening wine and cheese after a hard day's work- it was my great hope and optimism for one moment.
I opt for one glass Cabernet Sauvignon, Paris Valley Road (California) 2012 $10.00 with their cheese and fruit. I did not want an entrée as I was still full from lunch that linger within me hours earlier. Disappointingly, the cheese and fruit appetizer is not available. Oh well... I'll intake one glass of quality wine without food then. To compensate the unavailability of my food selection customer service is friendly, courteous and very attentive which I overall rate three stars. I was offered a sample of my selected glass of wine before making my decision and later a sample of sparkling wine. Wine quality is good. One microscopic tiny unisex bathroom facility is available and clean. Space is very tiny as I was bumping my arms against the wall when washing my hands. No business cards are available for grabs.
Note: Valid photo identification is required for ALL debit and credit card payments which is beneficial as I prefer to be inquiried for an added security measure.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Business owner information

I apologize that we didn't have the cheese and fruit platter available, Tina. It sounds like you tried some great, quality wines, though, and I'm glad you enjoyed them. We do have a small space, but we try to make the most of it and provide an intimate atmosphere. I hope you'll come back and give us another chance -- I'd love to hear what you think about our food.

Beans and Vines, alongside Indian Road Cafe and Anchor Heights, has built a reputation as one of the major "fine dining" but casual establishments in Inwood. That reputation grew even more last year, when B&V moved to a new location and turned its old one into an "express" outpost. You know you've arrived when you try pulling the "Nobu Next Door"-type trick.
Unfortunately, I couldn't see the fuss. We stepped in for lunch and ordered satays and a chicken caesar salad. Neither was remarkable, and both took forever to get there, even though these are pretty simple and basic dishes. There are some nice puffy potato things on the side (look like cheetos and have their texture but are basically fries). But it wasn't enough to get me jazzed about the place.
Maybe the dinner options or more elaborate entrees are better, but this basic light lunch stuff just didn't help me BELIEVE THE HYPE. #FlavorFlavAwardHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rosemary V.Jersey City, NJ268606301Oct 26, 2018Updated review
This place has expanded to a new location which I have been to at least 4-5 times.
The menu has also expanded and I love every dish there. Every dish is flavorful and the staff can help you choose if you're stuck (try the crab cake dish and appetizer at least once).
The service is always outstanding
The wine list is extensive and they let you taste wines if you're not sure what to get.
Perhaps not ideal for vegans but definitely good for vegetarians and those with food intolerance (gluten or dairy).
My BFF and I come here to catch up and we will keep on coming.

Rosemary, this is fantastic! Trust me, I know it's a bit cozy in here, but I hope you found it to be warm and welcoming. You can't ever go wrong with crab cakes and yuca fries, right? Hope to welcome you back for more soon! :)
Was this your first time here, by the way? I'd love to know!
Hope to hear back,

Ambiance: Place is super tiny, therefore not ideal for groups.
Service: Waiter was attentive. It sucks that their wine list was not updated and pretty much every wine I wanted they are no longer carrying. Also, some of the wine by the glass were a bit pricey.
Food: My friend and I shared the crab cake as an appetizer and it was heaven. The portions are excellent and the salad that comes with it was quite yummy. We also shared the yuca fries which were quite yummy and more than enough to share with someone else. I had the grilled tostada with chicken instead of shrimp and it was so tasty and fresh.
Besides updating their wine list and having a bigger space, I would say this place is great. The quality of the food will not disappoint. - Freddy M.Bronx, NY050Aug 24, 2022
This is only for their takeout place:
I've loved their Southwestern Chicken Caesar Salad. But two things that've made me stopped purchasing them: Not giving the common courtesy to tell their customers that there is a surcharge to their order if they don't pay by cash. Secondly, them raising their prices 8%-15% the last 18 months. Paying over $17 for their salad has now been costly and have seen myself not eat there as much as I use to. Granted, inflation is going in the economy, but this place isn't located on the Upper East/West Side to be charging at their current prices. Sadly, their value is long gone from what they use to beHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jill U.Mount Vernon, NY20112393Oct 27, 2018
First time coming here and it was a blast. The host who I believe is also the manager is so kind. Very welcoming and nice. I have already made plans to return.
The food was delicious, the desert was flavorful and the ambiance was modern and up to date. My only complaint I would have is the alcoholic drinks were not good. However the food more than makes up for it. Large serving and tasty.
I was actually surprised to find a restaurant that I truly enjoyed here. If you are looking for some delicious food this is the place to go.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 2, 2018
I've been hearing people rave about the gourmet chimi for years and I finally had the chance to try it this weekend. Now I get the hype! Came in with a friend at about 4:30pm on a Sat. and we were seated right away. I loved the decor, they have a beautiful waiting area in the front and there's bottles of wines all over the restaurant. Our server came over within mins. and introduced himself. My friend got a glass of Cabernet and I ordered a glass of rosé. We both got the sirloin gourmet chimis. I wanted it with yuca fries but had to get sweet potato fries instead because they were out. Food didn't take long to come out. The first bite of the chimi was amazing, the meat had a lot of flavor and was very juicy. The fries were also pretty good. We really enjoyed our meals overall and the service was great. Will def. be back to try other items on the menu.

We came here for an impromptu dinner because the gentleman at the door was so outgoing and raved about the food. The ambiance is fantastic and the decor is classic and welcoming!
Service: The service was phenomenal! I have a lot of allergies and everyone handled them graciously and were very accommodating. In addition, my mom is a little indecisive when it comes to ordering and the guidance they gave was excellent!
Food: Delicious!!!!! The fish was expertly cooked and was the perfect balance between fine dining and home cooking! We were enticed by the presentation and stuffed from the big portions lol.
My mom is the biggest critic but she absolutely loved this place so we will definitely be stopping at this hidden gem again!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Angelika W.New York, NY023Jul 3, 2022
I've been coming here for the past 3 years. Service can be hit or miss depending when you come in along with food quality and drinks. If you arrive during a busier time, likely to have a better experience. Excellent espresso martinis as they aren't overly sweet as a lot of places tend to make them.
Chicken satay with yuca - hit or miss with the chicken quality
Lamb burger
Espresso martinis

We had arrived to the restaurant before dinner rush hour, so the restaurant wasnt packed. However, sadly the service was a little lacking. Our server had disappeared for quite awhile and we had to try to find someone who could assist us when we had an opportunity.
The food was good, though. We had great sized portions of food and the food cooked well. They did really great lamb based dishes and have a lot of variety on their menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Edward A.Bronx, NY1634120Apr 17, 2018
This place is really nice, from the decor to the food/drinks. Their chimi gourmet with fried yucas is one of my favorites. Very tasty and flavorful but I am a bit disappointed that they raised the price from $10 to $15. I guess business is business. Also, they do not accept the yelp cupon, just don't know why have it or why put it up.
Hope this helps!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
