German Shepherds Spring Into Action After Realizing ‘Little Human’ Is Gone From Beach

Summer is finally here, and that means many of us look forward to heading to the beach or lake with our family and fur babies, spending time chilling on the shore. Zeus and Luna are two German Shepherds who love beach days. They love playing and splashing around in the water with their little human. It's fun to watch them do it, too!

The dogs' mom shared a video in mid-June of the two dogs chasing each other in and out of the water. At some point, they realize their little human is nowhere to be found. Watch as the dogs' immediately spring in the action looking for him, and how fast they run to him to make sure he was safe and sound.

This is such a cool video and also proves that German Shepherds are the ultimate protectors and concerned siblings! Fans of Zeus and Luna left more than 200 comments about the video. @Braytons Girl said simply, "Always protected!!" @Jennifer Elling shared, "Our GSD takes inventory when we get home if we were all out together, goes to each one of us to check in."

@Makayla Babcock shared a quick story, "My dogs are the same way. We actually couldn’t fine our kids in the woods, so we let one of the dogs lead us to them." @Marmaduke also shared a cool story, "My Danes are like this. At our block party I put the baby to bed without the dog seeing and he went nuts searching for him. I had to bring him in and show him the baby sleeping in his crib."

German Shepherds: The Ultimate Protectors

Growing up, we had neighbors down the street that had a German Shepherd. The dog was a big lover and snuggle bug, but if you didn't know him, he was scary! Even though we were invited into their house to play with their kids, if we approached the house, he'd bark and let his presence be known. They had a pool in their backyard, and he was so protective that when they put their toddler in a pool float, he'd follow it around and gently nip the float back to the edge of the pool anytime it started drifting too far for him to reach!

German Shepherds were originally bred to be herding dogs, so protecting is part of their nature and who they are. They are also territorial by nature and are fiercely loyal to their family. They'll do anything to keep their humans safe and keep threats away from them. That might make them sound vicious, but with their family they are extremely loving and gentle. They'll also fight to the death to protect them.

German Shepherds are large dogs with an intimidating look. Their loud, forceful bark alone is also scary to hear if you're on the wrong end of it. Most strangers and people that don't belong on your property or near your family would head the other way after just seeing and hearing your dog! If you're looking for a dog who wants nothing more than to keep your family safe, a German Shepherd is worth considering.
