Young Sheldon Spinoff Working to Get Big Bang Theory Star to Return For New Show

We still don’t have a lot of information about what The Big Bang Theory spinoff focused on George and Mandy is going to be about, but what we do know is that one of the original show’s stars might return to reprise a surprising role in the prequel. But will Jerry O’Connell be in Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage? If Emily Osment has her way, the answer is yes.

Will Jerry O’Connell Be in Young Sheldon Spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?

Emily Osment would love to get The Big Bang Theory’s Jerry O’Connell, who played adult Georgie, to appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. “I run into Jerry O’Connell so much in my neighborhood, who of course plays older Georgie, and I’m trying to figure out how to get him back on in some way. Maybe he’ll be the narrator,” she told ET.

The actress also confirmed to ET at the end of June that the show hadn’t yet started filming, but they would be starting soon. “I actually have not read anything yet but we’re starting fairly soon and we’re still in the process of pre-production.” As for where the show would be picking up, the actress had this to say: “I assume it starts right where we left off, so there isn’t too big of a gap for our viewers in terms of, like, story or missing us too much. We just pick right up where we were.”

How that affects the possibility of getting O’Connell into the show is still unknown, but Osment offers a good possibility for O’Connell. Voiceovers was, after all, the way Young Sheldon brought in Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, into the show.

The show is, after all, called Georgie & Mandie’s First Marriage. We know that during the continuity of The Big Bang Theory Georgie, played by Montana Jordan in Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is not married to Emily Osment’s Mandy. But the logo and the title indicate that the couple will indeed have a second marriage. So that means that we should indeed see Jerry O’Connell again at some point during Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, even if it’s just when the show’s continuity finally catches up with The Big Bang Theory and we can move on to their second marriage.

But Osment, and fans, would probably love to find a way to bring O’Connell back, if not as a series regular, at least a more consistent presence. Voiceovers would be a great way to do that. To that O’Connell could add cameos for big episodes, and that would be the perfect way to prepare for the character we will one day meet as he tries to make up with his brother Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will air on CBS in the fall and stream on Paramount+.
