Outage update: Who's still out & when will it come back?
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - About 13,500 National Grid customers in the north country, mostly in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties, remain in the dark.
And for the first time, National Grid has given an estimate on when power could be back on, but it could be another full day without power for many people.
As of 8 a.m. Thursday, Jefferson County outages had steadily dropped to around 8,200, down from 22,000 around 6 p.m. Wednesday. Outages peaked at 32,000 Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, power has steadily been coming back on in Lewis County. Outages were down to about 500 from a little more than 3,000 on Wednesday.
It’s a similar case in St. Lawrence County, where about 4,800 customers woke up in the dark Thursday. At one point, that tally was more than 10,000.
As for restoration times, National Grid is listing 11:30 p.m. as the estimated time for the entire region. It’s not very specific, but it’s the first estimate the company has given since the storm hit.
