How’s it going Delmarva!? I’m Jake Grant, your Morning Meteorologist for 47ABC WMDT.
I am a Delaware native from Bear, just outside the University of Delaware. I graduated from Appoquinimink High School in Middletown, Delaware and have visited the Delaware Beaches tons of times throughout my life!
I always knew I wanted to be a Meteorologist from as young as six-years-old. I remember being obsessed with the weather and watching local newscasts specifically for it. I found my interest was specifically sparked in the Fall of 2012 during Hurricane Sandy. This storm was a firsthand experience in really solidifying my passion for weather and my fascination with it.
This led me to Virginia Tech where I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Meteorology and a minor in Geography. I enjoyed my time in the Blue Ridge mountains and as a Hokie but I’m excited to be back serving part of my home state and all of Delmarva!
For my career, I spent a summer interning with WTXF in Philadelphia. I’m super excited to have landed here at WMDT for my first job.
In my free time I enjoy going to the beach and spending time with my family. I also enjoy watching all the Philadelphia sports teams as I am a 4/4 fan.
