Gulls sports prepare for hectic week of tournament action

SALISBURY, Md. – This is shaping up to be a big week for Salisbury University sports, with four programs preparing for NCAA tournament games.

The number one ranked men’s lacrosse team with a convincing win over Swarthmore Sunday, so the Gulls now march on to the national quarterfinals. Salisbury will host number 16 Washington and Lee on Saturday with a trip to the national semifinals on the line.

Opening faceoff at Sea Gull Stadium is slated for 4:30 PM. and the winner of that game will face either eighth-ranked Tufts or St. John Fisher in next Sunday’s national semifinal.

The fifth-ranked women’s lacrosse team were just as dominant as the men in their 23-6 win over Cabrini this weekend and have advanced to the regional semifinal.

The Gulls will face the 15th-ranked Babson Beavers, but as of now the location and time are to be determined.

The fourth-ranked softball team in the nation will begin their national tournament run at home, as they will host a four-team regional beginning on Thursday.

Salisbury finished as the runner up in the C2C, and finished the regular season with a 36-5 record. The Gulls open up play with Manhattanville at noon on Thursday.

Salisbury is looking to return to the College World Series for the third-straight year after finishing runners-up last season.

The seventh-ranked baseball team returns to the NCAA tournament, and begin with a matchup with UMass Dartmouth on Friday.

The Gulls went 28-9 in the regular season, as SU won the national championship in 2021 and finished national runner-up in 2022.
