SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - A community is coming together to help a Somerset family that lost first their home, then their daughter, to a devastating fire.

The fire broke out Tuesday at a home on Newtown Street in Ferguson, near Somerset in Pulaski County. On Friday, the Fayette County Coroner stated that 12-year-old Natalie Stacy died of smoke inhalation injuries sustained in the fire.

Several businesses are collecting money for the family or donating a portion of their proceeds. A GoFundMe has also been started.

‘’It is not something I would wish on my worst enemy. As a mom, it breaks my heart for them. She was only 12 years old, a joy to be around,” said Becca Perrin, who helped start the GoFundMe.

Perrin also says donations can be dropped off at TriGenerations on 232 Venture Way. You can also call Christa Burton at 606-305-9185 for ways to help.

Natalie Stacy was a 6th grader at Southern Middle School, and the principal said that she was “kind, caring, and a friend to all.” She loved softball and was looking forward to trying out for the team this spring.
