Money troubles? Expert advice on getting out of the debt cycle: 'Money Makeover' conference in Cleveland

CPA Meltrice Sharp is leading a financial empowerment conference for women next month -- known as the Money Makeover -- at the Westin in downtown Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — Are you facing any money troubles right now?

CPA Meltrice Sharp with CLE Consulting Firm stopped by WKYC Studios on Tuesday morning to talk with 3News’ Danita Harris about how people can work to get out of the debt cycle they’re stuck in.

“First of all, you have to make a choice that’s what you want to do,” Sharp said. “Second, and most importantly, you have to figure out where your starting point is. A lot of people avoid facing it, but if you can’t face it you can’t fix it. You can go to CreditRepair.com once year and get your credit report, understand what your starting point is and what you need to fix to get where you need to go."

She also said planning for your money is key.

“Tell your money where to go as opposed to looking up and you’re like, ‘Where did my money go?’ You literally just have to create the plan,” Sharp said. “They say if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Creating that plan, creating that budget, making sure you are directing your money on where to go and when.”

'MONEY MAKEOVER' CONFERENCE

Sharp is leading a financial empowerment conference for women next month -- known as the Money Makeover -- at the Westin in downtown Cleveland from Aug. 2-4 where "wealth-building and sisterhood align."

"This is your unprecedented access to learn the right money moves to build generational wealth," according to the event's site.

Danita will serve as the event’s keynote speaker on Sunday.

Tickets for the Money Makeover conference are available HERE.
