3News' Danita Harris and Dave Chudowsky featured on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' as Upcycle Parts Shop in Cleveland gets surprise: Watch the moment

Danita and Dave were on the show to help Clarkson surprise a local nonprofit.

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — This is so cool!

3News’ Danita Harris and Dave Chudowsky were both featured on Tuesday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show to help bring national attention to the nonprofit Upcycle Parts Shop in Cleveland.

The moment was part of the show's "Good Neighbor" segment where Clarkson highlights and recognizes people and organizations that are making a difference in their community.

Danita traveled to New York City last month to record the segment alongside Clarkson, while Dave reported from the Upcycle Parts Shop to show what the organization offers.

"Upcycle Parts Shop demonstrates environmental sustainability through creative reuse of secondhand materials," according to their site. "Our mission is to Provoke Creativity and Promote Community Through Reuse, Resourcefulness, and Relationships. Together with our community we have diverted over 52 tons of material from landfills since opening in 2014."

The moment also included a special surprise for Upcycle Parts Shop as Clarkson revealed that the American Greetings ecard app was donating $10,000.

“It’s not just a shop. It’s an experience," Danita said on the show. "That’s what I loved about it, and they are doing such a great job helping the community.”

Clarkson told Danita in a one-on-one interview that Good Neighbor is her favorite segment from the show.

“I love the fact that we’re highlighting not just the things going wrong in life, but the people that are really doing something cool and innovative and something that can really change the community,” Clarkson said. “If everybody focused on their community, it could then Domino effect and change everyone. It really, selfishly, makes me feel better -- like happy and hopeful. Sometimes there’s not a lot of hope out there -- sometimes -- so it’s nice to see that light, right?”

And if you haven’t heard, Clarkson is also hosting the Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. So we were curious… Which sport would she try if able to compete in the Olympics?

“First of all, it would not look good for Team USA,” Clarkson said. “No matter what sport. Put singing in there? I didn’t know archery was in the Olympics until a few years ago. I was like, ‘What?!?!’ So I would want to be Katniss. I’d want to do archery. I’ve done archery before, actually, a couple of times. I’m not bad.”

During her visit to New York City, you may also remember that Danita stopped by the TODAY show where she and 3News' Isabel Lawrence got a special nationwide shout out from our friend -- and former WKYC employee -- Al Roker. Check it out below...
