Discussion
[edit]Comment Can you fix the rest of the examples? Under "infobox parameter" can you link the actual Norwegian Infobox you're targeting? (Or is that no:Mal:infoboks geografi?) —Scs (talk) 11:41, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, that's the one. There's an even more basic geography template, but for the time being I dont't want to start editing it, as it is the base for thousands of other templates/infoboxes. I don't exactly understand what you mean with 'the rest of the examples', though. This datablock is mainly used for countries, and to a lesser degree, regions, so I can't think of any, but states in the USA might possibly be an example? Asav (talk) 14:58, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Asav: I think Scs is wondering how the United States can have a 99% literacy rate and Turkmenistan can have a 'Turkmenistan%' literacy rate (same with Norway and Iran). Mahir256 (talk) 16:31, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I'm not sufficiently familiar with how to fill in these proposal forms. The USA and Turkmenistan are listed as two examples for countries where we'd like to have an entry with the literacy rate amongst the population, and the rest goes for the other examples. So I frankly don't understand the question. Asav (talk) 16:41, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Asav: This is all we were asking for. Apologies on behalf of Steve and myself for being entirely unclear. Mahir256 (talk) 17:33, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

- I was asking about the template because:
- Seeing how the existing Norwegian Wikipedia infobox displays the literacy rate helps make clear how this new property would work.
- The fact that there's an existing Wikipedia infobox that needs the data makes it much easier (I think) to justify adding a new Wikidata property.
- But right now I can't find where the existing Norwegian Wikipedia infobox displays the literacy rate. (I searched for "lesekyndighet" on w:no:USA and w:no:Norge and found nothing. What am I missing?) —Scs (talk) 00:57, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
- It's the item ''|lesekyndige={{{lesekyndige|}}}'' in the abovementioned no:Mal:infoboks geografi. To the best of my knowledge, it's not acually used in any infoboxes in the encyclopedia proper, since it doesn't have an accomplishing Wikidata item, the one I'm requesting here. It should probably be changed to "lesekyndighet", though, as that's a little bit clearer. Hope this helps. Asav (talk) 13:26, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

- Done @Asav, NMaia, Mahir256, Scs: please make good use of it. --- Jura 13:40, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
