Motivation
[edit]I think there would be great value in modelling the social networks of historical/contemporary people within Wikidata.

Discussion
[edit]This is my first property proposal and would appreciate feedback on details I may be missing to make the case for this property. Cheers! – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Todrobbins (talk • contribs) at 20:50, 12 December 2018 (UTC).
- Comment: Needs clarity on the intended sense of "friend" intended. Is this meant to replicate FOAF? Is it to be qualified with "on Facebook", or other networks? Or is it meant to real-life relationships? Is reciprocation required? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 23:11, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment: The intended sense is basically replicating FOAF/Relationship. It could be broadly applied to say a reciprocal/symmetrical Facebook friendship, but more neatly fits real-life relationships. How would I properly propose reciprocation? Todrobbins (talk) 00:26, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

- Oppose, again, per points made on the previous proposals. --Yair rand (talk) 03:08, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Use significant person (P3342) for significant friendships; having a generic property for "friendship" would overly clutter items and confuse editors. ArthurPSmith (talk) 20:16, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment: ArthurPSmith: I think that would be a good approach. Which piece of my proposal should be modified then? Todrobbins (talk) 22:06, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose The term friendship is too broad. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 11:17, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose as per ChristianKl - Bodhisattwa (talk) 09:22, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose use significant person (P3342) with a qualifier as to the nature of relation. AgRelOn slide 6 lists maybe 30-40 relations, and Getty ULAN lists about 72 pairs: I don't think we want a property for each one. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 14:03, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
