Motivation
[edit]Van Wijngaarden created a database of all the hundreds of underground quarries in the Netherlands. Since then the identification numbers are used by a wide range of organisations, including government, municipalities, nature organisations, forestry, the Dutch geological Association, the Royal Dutch Natural History Association, as well as the Central Bureau for Statistics in the Netherlands (CBS). The identifiers are used for various purposes, including bats monitoring systems, and just to indicate which quarry, as various quarries have similar or the same name. Discussion
[edit]- Comment @Romaine: Please make the examples links.Thank you David (talk) 08:22, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi David, Why do you need the examples to link? As I wrote above, the identifier system of Van Wijngaarden is used by a wide range of organisations. The system dates back to August 1967 when it was published as article with long list with descriptions and more, by the National Institute for Field Biological Research for Nature Conservation (RIVON), in collaboration with the Natural History Society, the Dutch Geological Association, and the Maastricht Natural History Museum. The article with list was republished online by Wageningen University & Research (Q422208), the list of identifiers starts on page 16: http://edepot.wur.nl/425424 There are no individual pages for each underground quarry, at least so far I have seen. Over the years I have seen multiple external identifier properties without links, especially with cultural heritage monuments. So therefore I wonder why you need the examples to link? Thanks! greetings - Romaine (talk) 08:36, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
