Vancouver Whitecaps FC are honoured to have Joshua Marquez from Canada SCORES as Kid Captain of the club's home match against LAFC at BC Place on August 21.
Canada SCORES is a registered Canadian charity that provides free after-school programming of soccer, poetry and service-learning to 200+ students through partnerships with 12 schools across Burnaby, Surrey and New Westminster.
Joshua was isolated at home and had a difficult time adjusting to the pandemic. However, that changed when he joined Canada SCORES in 2020! His newfound love of soccer and poetry have built up his sportsmanship and leadership skills.
In fact, Joshua and his Canada SCORES teammates plan on making colouring and poetry books to fundraise for BC Children’s Hospital and OWL, The Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society!
Before the match, 'Caps club legend and ambassador Carl Valentine and Southsiders member Steve Madness will be celebrating our Kid Captain in front of fans at BC Place.
