My toxic trait is that I physically can't say no to a good blanket. Walk through my house, and you'll literally find a throw blanket or a quilt in every room: They're draped over chairs and tossed decoratively over the ends of beds. They're stacked in baskets in case guests come over and need an extra layer (or three) of warmth. They're packed in my car for camping excursions, and folded in my linen closets as back-ups when my go-tos are in the wash.

Has my love of blankets gone too far? Probably. But has this passion for comfort made me quite the blanket connoisseur? Absolutely. And, in my humble-but-qualified cozy opinion, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the UnHide Marshmallow Faux Fur Blanket (typically $249) is one of the best blankets I have ever snuggled under, hands down.

UnHide, Marshmallow 2.0 Medium Faux Fur Throw — $249.00

Trust me—you’ll never want to get out from under this thing. It’s ridiculously soft, perfectly weighted, and looks amazing on any couch.

Size: 60 inches by 80 inches

Weight: 9.5 pounds

Colors: Available in 12+ options

You know that trendy faux fur blanket you keep getting ads for on IG? Or the one your favorite influencer unboxed in their FabFitFun box? That's UnHide, a fake-fur blanket brand that feels just as soft as the real thing. Launched by Ellen Degeneres back in 2019, UnHide swaps traditional chinchilla for 100 percent vegan fur made from 90 percent recycled plastics.

Seeing these throws on my Instagram last winter sent my blanket-hoarding brain into overdrive. Between the photos of dreamy plushness combined with copy like "soft, velvety interior" and "cuddle puddle," and I had to have one. Next thing I knew, my very own Marshmallow arrived on my doorstep, and I haven't gotten out from under it since.

My UnHide blanket review:

First thing I noticed about this dreamy throw was how heavy it was. This thing is a beast, minus the beastly byproducts. The Marshmallow Medium, which measures out at 60-by-80-inches, weighs a hefty 9.5 pounds—it doesn't seem like a lot, but lugging it to my couch I quickly realized that it's a lot of blanket.

As someone who doesn't love the smothering feeling of some weighted blankets, I got a little nervous—was it going to be too heavy? Was I going to feel pinned down under the pile of fake, cream-colored fur? Turns out, nope, I wasn't. I got underneath and my qualms melted away faster than the cuddle puddle I was about to turn into.

This thing... just wow. I didn't even notice I was laying underneath nearly 10 pounds because of its softness, which literally felt like real fur. While the top of each UnHide blanket is made from that faux chinchilla, the bottoms are brushed with a velvety, hide-like interior that's akin to melted butter.

And thanks to its weight, it's so warm. Like, you'd think it's heated. I have a leather couch that often gets cold and I swear you could lay naked underneath this thing and not feel a chill. The weight and materials cocoon seamlessly around you, keeping you (and your friend/partner/dog, if you're up to share) toasty in all temps.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Made from recycled materials (and not animal fur)
  • Wide variety of colors to choose from
  • Machine washable

Cons

  • Might be too warm for hotter months
  • Pricier blanket

UnHide Marshmallow blanket care

Washing blankets can be tricky, but this baby is machine washable. UnHide recommends washing your Marshmallow blanket on a cold, gentle cycle, and hanging it up to dry.

Can you put UnHide blankets in the dryer?

The brand doesn't recommend putting your blanket the dryer, but a good fluffing after it air dries should bring it back to its original fluffiness. If you must put it in the dryer, make sure to tumble dry on low heat, as higher temperatures can damage the blanket.

The conclusion? Get it

We've still got a long winter ahead of us—all the more reason to cuddle up in an UnHide throw. It's sustainable, guilt-free, and warmer than any quilt or weighted blanket you could toss over your sofa.

If you're a sucker for aesthetics, it'll win your heart, too. Draped over my leather couch, it looks like an elegant fur sourced from some designer boutique on the Upper East Side. I got the beige, which goes flawlessly with just about anything, but there's also white, charcoal, gray, light pink, emerald green, and even a limited-edition printed version from the brand's collab with Netflix.

And of course, there are other sizes to choose from. If the Medium Marshmallow might be too big or heavy for you, grab yourself a Lil' Marsh ($79), which comes in three different sizes that are half the weight. Or if it's not enough, and you're a big fan of snuggling, add the Cuddle Puddle ($219) to your cart, which is also less weight but spans a whopping 100-by-100 inches.

Take it from me, a self-professed cozy connoisseur—whatever UnHide blanket you decide to buy, it will not disappoint. Plus, you can get 20% off your purchase right now with the code wellandgood20.
