I Finally Tried Courteney Cox’s Cleaning Line, Homecourt—These Are My Honest Thoughts
When I first heard about Courteney Cox’s new line of cleaning products, I was intrigued. Unlike many of her celeb friends who turn to beauty to fulfill their entrepreneurial pursuits, Cox has taken an entirely different route. Her cleaning product brand Homecourt is all about the idea of preserving and elevating the wellness of your home—one spritz at a time.
“Our homes are the one place that can bring a sense of calm and serenity in our lives. Collectively, we seek good health, good habits, and wellness routines that make us feel like we are putting our best foot forward—so why not extend that philosophy into home care?" Cox wrote on the brand’s website.
That's the ethos behind the company’s three marquee products: a gentle surface cleaner ($20), an ultra-nourishing hand wash ($30), and a floral-scented dish soap ($25). You can buy each one separately, or bundled together in a value set for $70. About a month ago, I had the opportunity to put each product to the test, and was pleasantly surprised by how well they made a difference in my day-to-day cleaning rituals.
First, everything is made with sustainability in mind. The brand uses recycled materials and eco-friendly ingredients only. For example, the sleek black packaging is made with “100 percent post-consumer recycled plastics," as noted by the brand. Additionally, the surface cleaner, hand wash and dish soap all contain plant-derived and skin-care grade ingredients, like sustainably harvested eucalyptus and up-cycled rosewater. Stronger chemical ingredients found in other cleaning and cosmetics products like triclosan (which is used to help reduce bacteria) and phthalates are all on the brand's no-no list.

But even without these ingredients that we're likely to find in traditional cleaning solutions, the formulas are able to deliver. In fact, it's this omission of some of these questionable ingredients combined with the beautiful floral scents is what made me fall in love with the brand—and the fact that the solution actually cleans really well and leaves surfaces sparkling.
The surface cleaner
The surface cleaner, which is offered in four fragrances (Steeped Rose, Neroli Leaf, Cipres Mint, and Cece, an earthy cedar wood) is safe to use on just about any non-porous surface including most woods, stainless steel and granite. I found myself wiping down my tile countertops with it frequently. All in all, it does a good job at removing soft stains, thanks to the coconut-derived degreaser that naturally helps to dissolve grease and break up debris. It's a great cleaner for when you have an especially greasy kitchen (or small kitchen that gathers up grease easily after cooking). You'd think with the more gentle ingredients it would be harder to cut through the oil, but that wasn't the case!
The hand wash
The hand wash is also surprisingly gentle. It has a clear gel consistency that creates a luxurious lather as you wash your hands. But despite the extra bubbles, the soap doesn't leave your hands feeling cactus dry. Instead, it has a hydrating and softening effect thanks partly to the Australian hibiscus flower extract ingredient. And while I'm not the biggest fan of scented cleaning products or soaps, this one has changed my mind. It's incredibly subtle—depending on much product you use—and makes hands feel fresh and clean.
The dish soap
Overall, the dish soap and hand wash are my favorite, hands down (literally). Both are skin-friendly and include hydrating ingredients like argan oil and glycerin, which help to keep skin from drying out. Additionally, the dish soap works hard at removing those tough stains and odors like those nasty grill marks that appear on your pots and pans when you overcooked the meat, or the pesto that hardens on your plate. The formula contains soft plant-derived surfactants that help break up greasy clusters and hidden debris.
The fragrance options also deserve some major kudos, IMO. Unlike some chemical-smelling surface cleansers that need to air out after you spray them, these smell as if you just lit a candle. If you're looking for a way to clean your home and create a wonderfully-smelling environment along the way, these are a safe bet.
