Baltimore County schools to use Open Gate security screening system at athletic events
Baltimore County Public Schools plans to implement enhanced safety screening at athletic events next month.In an email sent Thursday to parents and guardians, the district said it's implementing the Open Gate security system at all BCPS athletic events.The district said the Open Gate system is a touchless security-screening technology that screens individuals who enter facilities. The district said the screening is quick, non-intrusive and screens for any prohibited items.The system could roll out as soon as Oct. 4.Anyone with questions can call the district's Department of Athletics at 443-809-2328.The use of this new system comes in addition to the district's bag policy, which allows for small clutch bags and diaper bags, all of which are subject to search.
