Food and Water Risk Analysis (FAWRA)
Center of Excellence for Food and Water Risks Analysis (FAWRA)
Improving public health safety, animal health and environment through food and water risk analysis
1. Risk assessment, opportunity assessment or The potential for health effects from harmful microorganisms and
dangerous chemicals in food and water,
2. Risk Management, reducing the opportunity or controlling microbial hazards and chemical hazards in food and
water,
3. Risk Communication, knowledge dissemination obtained from the risk assessment and Risk management for
those who have Stakeholders throughout the food and water chain
Center of Excellence in Diagnosis and Monitoring of Animal Pathogens
Center of Excellence in Diagnosis and Monitoring of Animal Pathogens
The incidence of infectious diseases caused by zoonotic diseases and other animal pathogens, including viruses,
bacteria and fungi. Reports are increasing and are often the subject of social attention. But in practice, there are still
limitations in technology science, tools, and knowledge integration and collaboration at the organizational level. The
research team has consistently presented in-depth research and applications to veterinary microbiology, such as drug-
resistant bacteria, emerging viruses, and fungal diagnostics in animals. The research unit aims to study and research,
to reduce the limitations of veterinary pathogen diagnosis, to develop methods for detecting pathogens to be diverse
and accurate, and to disseminate information. The research unit is funded by the Agricultural Research Development
Agency, and private companies continuously. In addition, it has cooperated with the Animal Pathogens Bank Unit ,
government agency both domestic and international universities. The research unit has an important goal in elevating
the examination and tracking standards of animal pathogens that can link the human pathogens database as an
important research reference source at Chulalongkorn University.
Veterinary Medical Aquatic Animal Research
Veterinary Medical Aquatic Animal Research Center of Excellence (VMARCE)
To be a leader in aquatic animal veterinary at national and international levels. Transfer knowledge to aquatic
animal veterinarians both domestically and internationally. Developing innovations related to aquatic animals,
Including academic services, disease examination, diagnosis, treatment and giving advice on aquatic animals to
the public.
Animal Vector-Borne Disease
Center of Excellence in Animal Vector-Borne Disease Research
The purpose of the Animal Vector Disease Research Unit is to conduct research on vector disease in animals, biology
and the ecology of important vectors ,and surveillance of emerging and emerging infectious diseases from animals and
from animals to humans.
Pathology in wildlife Special pets and aquatic animals
Center of Excellence for Wildlife, Exotic and Aquatic Animal Pathology
1. To study and research as a reference develop and disseminate knowledge
2. Disease surveillance comparative pathology studies in medicine
3. Production of graduate studies and personnel with specific knowledge in pathology
Fish Infectious Diseases (CE FID)
Center of Execellence in Fish Infectious Diseases. (CE FID)
Produce and create research on infectious diseases of the fish economy continuously and sustainably.
Reference source for veterinary academics Aquaculture/Fisheries Technical Officer and farmers in
infectious diseases of economic fish and.
To create graduates and researchers in the field of economic fish health and infectious diseases of
quality economic fish to society.
Emerging and re-emerging diseases in animals (CU-EIDAs)
Center of Excellence for Emerging and Re-Emerging Diseases in Animals
CU-EIDAs is a research center focusing on emerging and re-emerging diseases in animals. The center is organized by
expert and well-trained research scientists and students. Research outcome of CU-EIDAs provides basic and novel
knowledge, as well as prevention and control measures related to emerging and re-emerging diseases in humans and
animals. The center also focuses on capacity building and laboratory networking for pandemic preparedness of emerging
and re-emerging diseases in the future.
Data Innovation for Livestock Development
Research Unit of Data Innovation for Livestock Development
Leader in Algorithm Development for decision making in livestock management both animal level management,
farm, product factory from livestock and livestock production management at the local level.
Veterinary Parasitology
Veterinary Parasitology Research Unit
The research unit produces works that are national references in veterinary parasitology, zoonotic diseases.
Can produce a workforce with high research potential. These graduates will help expand the network of researchers
in parasitology at both national and international levels.
Veterinary Clinical Stem Cells and Bioengineering
Veterinary Clinical Stem Cells and Bioengineering Research Unit
It is a research unit of academic excellence in veterinary stem cells and a national and international academic reference.
Animal Fertility of Chulalongkorn University
CU-Animal Fertility Research Unit
This Unit is an in-depth integrated research unit dedicated to the development of technologies, and innovations
to enhance animal reproduction at an international level. Destination that the research unit aims to is to study factors
that affect fertility (fertility) and low fertility (infertility) in animals cause a body of knowledge to be accepted by
academics and society outside including the development of new technologies or innovations such as cell culture,
reproductive system , Innovative inventions for disease diagnosis, treatment, and herd management. which led to the
development of a center of expertise Specialist in Reproductive Systems and Management of Reproductive Problems
in Animals, Chulalongkorn University (CE CU-RI). To focus on monitoring the guards, active ingredients, and
management that affect reproductive function in livestock and domestic animals. This will have a positive impact on
driving and developing the country.
In summary, the research unit Aims to develop techniques, reproductive biotechnology, and innovation in diagnostics.
Including ways to treat fertility problems in 3 important goals:
2.1 Low fertility problems in females related to endometrial function
2.2 Problems of low fertility in males related to spermatogenesis and function
2.3 The problem of loss of embryos during pregnancy
Biological indicators in animal parasitology
Biomarkers in Animal Parasitology Unit
1. Study of biomarkers in parasitic diseases in animals. in order to know the cause of the disease disease severity
and also to help in the process of treating animals that are sick from parasitic diseases.
2. To be used to develop the diagnosis of parasitic diseases in animals in the future.
3. Establish a research collaboration network with international parasite agencies.
Animal viruses and the development of diagnostic tests
Animal Virus and Diagnostic Development Research Unit
Study and classify new virus strains in different animal species to provide important background information for
animal-to-human disease surveillance or human to animal. Improve the speed of diagnosis accurate and reliable To
be a reference source and answer social problems in the future.
