Friday's forecast: Stormy Plains, snowy Rockies

Severe storms are forecast for the southern Plains while snow flies in the Rockies and the Mid-Atlantic sees a cool, showery day.

Central U.S.: Strong to severe thunderstorms and drenching rain are forecast for portions of Oklahoma, Texas, western Arkansas and northern Louisiana Friday. Some flash flooding is possible.

Rockies: Snow is forecast for the central Rockies on Friday. Up to a foot is possible in some areas.

East: The Mid-Atlantic will see another dreary, damp day Friday as high temperatures only reach the 50s and 60s. The Northeast will be clear but cool. The Southeast will be very warm and summerlike.

West Coast: Some afternoon showers will dampen the Pacific Northwest. The Southwest and California will be sunny and dry.
