The most incredible U.S. hotels, according to Fodor's Travel
The U.S. hotels designated by Fodor’s Travel as part of the 100 most “incredible” properties in the world include a Japanese inn in New Mexico, a posh motel in California paying homage to Dolly Parton, and a series of log cabins built on top of active hot springs in Colorado.
Fodor’s Travel – which has guidebooks, a website and mobile apps that provide information on more than 7,500 global destinations – has released its version of the best hotels in the world after a four-year hiatus of doing so. Fodor’s Travel plans to continue to come up with a list each year.
Rather than focusing on luxury hotels, Fodor’s chose hotels that have unique scenery, themes and amenities. The list consists of Fodor’s Travel editors and hotel writers' personal picks.
"The 100 properties on this list are certainly some of the best hotels in the world – but they're also some of the dreamiest, most swoon-worthy, and sometimes, most unusual this world has to offer,” said Jeremy Tarr, editorial director of Fodors.com.
Forbes Travel Guide names the most luxurious hotels
Fifteen U.S. hotels made the list. They include the log cabin-filled Dunton Hot Springs on the Dolores River in Colorado; the posh Hicksville motel in Idyllwild, California; and the Japanese-style Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Other U.S. hotels on the list: the Ace Hotel New Orleans, the Asbury Hotel on the New Jersey Shore, Hotel Emma in San Antonio, and the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City.
Hotels in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and Central and South America rounded out the rest of the list.
