Report: Revamped Apple TV arriving this summer

Lots of changes are reportedly coming to Apple TV, and it's not just streaming TV bundles.

According to Buzzfeed, citing "sources familiar with the company's plans," Apple will introduce a revamped version of its set-top box that will feature its own app store and support for digital voice assistant Siri.

The device would receive Apple's A8 processing chip, a significant enhancement compared to earlier models, as well as a beefed-up operating system. The report also says not only will Siri support voice control for the device, but work with HomeKit-supported apps to allow for home automation.

News of the revamped box is the latest hint that Apple is considering a more serious push toward the streaming TV market. During its Apple Watch event last week, the company revealed Apple TV would be the exclusive launch partner for HBO Go, the long-awaited standalone streaming service.

Meanwhile, multiple reports have surfaced that Apple is negotiating with top programmers on a streaming bundle that would boast 25 channels, including ABC, Fox and CBS.
