P.K. Subban fined again for embellishment

Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban was fined for diving on March 12.

Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban is the first NHL player to be caught three times under the league's effort to curb embellishment.

The NHL fined him $3,000 on Friday for falling easily on a little hook from Ottawa's Erik Condra on March 12. He didn't draw a penalty on the play.

The new fine is on top of an earlier $2,000 fine for his second offense (the first resulted in just a warning). Though the $5,000 total isn't a big burden for a player making $7 million this season, the public shaming is supposed to be what stops further incidents.

If not, his next time will cost him $4,000, plus will result in a $2,000 fine for Canadiens coach Michel Therrien.

So far, embellishment fines also have been handed out to Richard Panik, Michal Neuvirth, Cal Clutterbuck, Vincent Trocheck, Gustav Nyquist and James Neal.
