Woodley, Thompson combine for 31 to lead NW State to victory

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Zeek Woodley and Sabri Thompson combined for 31 points to lead Northwestern State to an 88-74 victory over NAIA LSU-Shreveport on Thursday night.

Woodley made 6 of 10 field-goal attempts to total 16 points and Thompson had 15 points and nine rebounds for Northwestern State (3-4), which has won three of its last five games. Devonte Hall added 12 points and dished out nine assists and Tra'von Joseph chipped in 11 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.

Northwestern State started the second half with a 13-6 run to go up 51-33. Tyrell Springer nailed a 3-pointer and followed that with a layup to start an 8-2 run as the Pilots closed to 62-56 with 9:37 left. Ishmael Lane and Joseph responded with back-to-back layups and Iziahiah Sweeney hit a jumper as Northwestern State pulled away 71-60.

Rashard Owens had 22 points and Springer added 21 for the Pilots.
