Crabbe's career-high helps Trail Blazers beat Cavaliers

AP

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Allen Crabbe scored a career-high 26 points, and the Portland Trail Blazers held LeBron James to just 12 points in a 105-76 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday.

Portland Trail Blazers forward Allen Crabbe (23) celebrates after making his 23rd point against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter.

Crabbe scored 21 in the first half, helping Portland (12-20) stop a five-game losing streak. He was 4 for 6 from 3-point range for the night.

C.J. McCollum had 16 points for the Trail Blazers, while Mason Plumlee had 11 points and 14 rebounds.

James missed his first four shots, had six points at halftime and didn't play in the fourth quarter. He matched his season-low scoring total.

Kevin Love had 13 points for Cleveland, which was coming off an 89-83 loss at Golden State on Christmas. Matthew Dellavedova and Richard Jefferson scored 10 points apiece.

Both teams played without their All-Star guards.

Cleveland's Kyrie Irving sat out with the team easing him back from a broken kneecap from six months ago during the NBA Finals. Irving made his season debut last Sunday and played Friday against Golden State, but isn't ready to play in back-to-back games yet.

Portland's Damian Lillard missed his third consecutive game because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Portland started fast and led 63-34 at halftime.

Crabbe scored 12 points and hit two 3-pointers to stake the Blazers to a 34-12 lead after the first quarter. Cleveland cut the deficit to 16 early in the second after Dellavedova hit two 3-pointers during an 8-0 run. But Portland countered with 11 consecutive points.

Portland went 8 of 15 from 3-point range and didn't commit a turnover during the first half.

Cleveland, perhaps spent from Friday's loss to the NBA champion Warriors, was unable to mount a second-half comeback. Portland ran off eight consecutive points midway through the third quarter to run its lead to 34 points, and led 90-59 heading into the fourth quarter.
