DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Tony Stewart will be in the driver's seat of a commercial Coca-Cola will launch during Sunday's Daytona 500 that will feature a heavy social media component.

Leading to the question: When will the three-time Sprint Cup champion be on Twitter?

"We've discussed it," Stewart told USA TODAY Sports. "I don't know if I want to be as die-hard as some of these people."

Stewart-Haas Racing spokesman Mike Arning said the team had reserved @TonyStewart but wanted the driver-owner to be committed to it and mindful of the public risks of social media before starting.

Stewart, the biggest NASCAR name not on Twitter alongside Dale Earnhardt Jr., seems to be weighing those repercussions.

"I'm scared of saying something that may get taken the wrong way," he said. "I already deal with enough of that crap. Do I want to subject myself to one more thing that can be that way? Everyone wants more access, but as soon as you get the access to us, and we do something wrong, you're setting yourself up to get shot down."

He already has a de-facto Twitter presence through the Stewart-Haas Racing account, which Arning uses to post many photos and updates on Stewart's sponsor appearances.

"It's almost like I'm more comfortable letting him do it," he said. "It's hard because people want us to be genuine, but eventually, you get pissed off at somebody and say, 'All right, I've had enough of this.' "

Stewart couldn't seem to get enough of the ad shoot, which occurred last month at Charlotte Motor Speedway and included Danica Patrick, Joey Logano, Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle and Denny Hamlin. Titled "Family Road Trip," it features moments that were ad-libbed between takes of an ad in which Stewart drives his peers in an SUV.

"Danica's playing around with the radio, and they cranked it up and said, 'Hey, we want to shoot that,'" Stewart said. "We created a lot of stuff for it. It wasn't as scripted as they wanted it to be."That's the cool part about being part of the Coke family and people that you compete against every weekend. When we get to do those spots together, everyone has a good time."
