It's only January, but the rivalry between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs is already heating up.

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant drew outrage from the Cardinals' fanbase and All-Star catcher Yadier Molina for calling St. Louis “boring.”

"Who would want to play in St. Louis?" Bryant said during an open forum discussion hosted by former Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster on Friday at the team's annual fan convention. "So boring. It's so boring. I always get asked like, 'Where do you like to play? Where do you not like to play?' St. Louis is on the list where I don't like to play."

Dempster doubled down: "I'm like, 'Zero chance in hell. No way. Won't even go there as a free agent. Not happening."

Now, to put it in context: Dempster and Bryant joked about the possibility of playing for the Cardinals and Bryant was kind of playing along with the partisan crowd.

However, Molina didn't find the comments too amusing and blasted Bryant and Dempster on his Instagram account: "Only stupid players and losers make comments like the ones made by Bryant and Dempster."

Luckily for Bryant, the Cubs don't visit St. Louis until the end of May. The rivalry begins in earnest at Wrigley Field on May 3.
