NEW YORK (AP) — Jose Ortiz, the nation's leading rider, won five races Friday at Aqueduct, including the $100,000 King's Swan Stakes aboard Even Thunder.

He went 5 for 7 on the afternoon, entending his Big A lead to 34-20 over brother Irad Ortiz, Jr. It was his fourth time this year winning five races on a card, pushing his season total to 332.

"I'll take it any day," Ortiz said. "I tried to tie the record of six wins, but I'm very happy. It's all about the horses. I had a good card and they showed up."

The brothers finished 1-2 in the King's Swan, with Even Thunder getting the nod by a head in the stakes for 2-year-olds.

It was the first race in New York for Even Thunder who launched his career with two wins in four starts at Canterbury Downs in Minnesota.

Now trained by Joe Orseno, Even Thunder ran the six furlongs in 1:11.12. He paid $7.40, $3.70 and $2.20.

Petrov was on the losing end of the photo finish, returning $3.10 and $2.30.

The Walk paid $2.60 to show.
