Mrs McDougal rallies to win Big A's Plenty of Grace Stakes

AP

NEW YORK (AP) — The well-rested Mrs McDougal won the $100,000 Plenty of Grace Stakes on Saturday for fillies and mares on the turf at Aqueduct.

Making her first start since running third in the Valley View Stakes at Keeneland in October, Mrs McDougal — ridden by Jose Ortiz — sat third in the early stages as Harp N Halo and Means Well dueled for the lead.

The even-money favorite swept past the tiring pacesetters at the top of the stretch and held off Strike Charmer by a length.

The 4-year-old trained by Chad Brown is 4 for 8 with her second stakes victory. She captured the Lake George at Saratoga last summer.

The time was 1:34.32 for the mile. Mrs McDougal paid $4.30, $3 and $2.60.

Strike Charmer returned $4.10 and $3.40, and Miss Atomic Bomb paid $5.80 to show.
